How Sweet It Is: The Jackie Gleason Story av James Bacon
OK bio of The Great One - Jackie Gleason written by drinking buddy James Bacon. It was interesting to read of Gleason's childhood and early career. He had many destructive habits - mostly drinking and over eating. He seemed to be liked by most who knew him. Not much analysis into his personality. Nice filmography. Would have liked a more detailed look at Gleason by someone who was not a friend..
I know Jackie Gleason mostly from The Honeymooners TV show (and didn't even realize he'd been in the Smokey and the Bandit movies until I read this book). The book is written in an easy to read style that compelled me to keep turning the pages. I was surprised to see he had so many destructive habits, but appreciated learning more about his life.
