This is an informational book about butterflies. This book teaches children what butterflies are, the kinds of butterflies, their similarities and differences. This book also highlights the reasons why butterflies are certain colors and it also gives the reader interesting facts along the way.

I found this book at a garage sale and purchased it for only about ten cents. I believe that it was a great purchase because everytime I read it to my son he discovers a new piece of information that he didn't catch previously. I like how it sparks his interest and makes him aware of the environment around him. Although it is an informational book and it has no story line or characters, it is quite interesting and very easy to read.

One classroom extension would be to have the students draw a diagram showing the lifespan of a butterfly. Another idea would be for students to research where butterflies go in the winter.… (mer)
