I liked this book, even though it is just repeated songs/rhymes that I have heard a million times. The grand illustrations, the way the writing was placed, and how the writing was organized/flowed are the reasons I really liked this book. The illustrations really caught my eye as the author made each and every picture that went along with each rhyme was unique. An example of this is what she used different main colors for each rhyme; Hickory, Dickory, Dock was blue mainly while There Was an Old Woman is mostly green. I also really liked the way the writing was placed, as it differed on each page. A comparative example of this is that for Humpty Dumpy, the letters are falling as Humpty in the story falls, where in One, Two, Buckle My Shoe, the author breaks up each sentence and puts them across the two pages. Finally, the way the author organized the writing and when each rhythm was placed into the book made it flow easily from one to another. A great example of this is that the more rhymed songs are together and the more non -song/non-rhyme passages are put together, making it flow well. The main message was that even old songs and rhythms that children already know can be re-done and made to be colorful and new.… (mer)

Mother Goose Rhymes is a collection of traditional rhymes. I like and would use this book for teaching because it has silly and fun nursery rhymes within it. I would use this book for ages 3 to 4.

Summary:
This is mainly a pictures book. It tells the kids the letters and also a picture to go with that letter. The words in the book are big. The letter they are specifically talking about on that page is the biggest letter.

Personal Reaction:
I thought that this would be a good book to read to the younger children because all of the Strong brightcolors and big letters. I would read this to a group of two to three year old kids who might have just started school or just started leaning their letters.

Classroom Extenion Ideas:
1.You could read this book to the kids and have a different letter each day for them to learn and have a picture ready each day for them to color that goes along with the letter that they are learing that day.
2. You could point to each letter and ask them what color each letter is.
