- JD Chambers wanted at various times to be Indiana Jones, Pat Benatar, and Wonder Woman when she grew up. She never considered writing down the stories she crafted in her head. They provided nothing more than entertainment for long drives or sleepless nights, until one particular story insisted it didn't want to reside only in her noggin. She hasn't stopped writing since.
JD finds unlikely heroes, humans courageous enough to be themselves, and spreadsheets incredibly sexy -- the last one much to her husband's chagrin. Together, they raise three teenagers and the world's most mellow Chihuahua on the Oregon Coast.

Ben and Jonathan were so great together. their snark was great, and I loved their humor and interactions. I loved most of Ben's family, and it was great to see them so engaged and loving. I loved how the author incorporated ASL and hearing impairment into the book. My heart melted when Ben started learning ASL.
I really enjoyed this installment. I haven't read all of the books in this series, so I didn't know all of the side characters. That didn't diminish my enjoyment, though, and I liked revisiting the characters I did know.

Dave is bi, but has never acted on being with men because of pressure from his father and family. Dave has tried to break away from their influence, but it isn't as easy as it seems. He knows something is missing from his life, but he doesn't realize what it is until he meets Arthur.
Arthur and Dave get together and engage in puppy play. This isn't my kind of kink, but I liked how it was written and all of the characters were respected in all interactions. Their relationship blossoms nicely, and they are great together. Unfortunately a major incident separates them, but they are able to work their way back together. There was no doubt they developed a strong love for each other.
I wish I had seen something about Dave reclaiming himself legally, like getting an emergency contact or having some kind of legal paperwork drawn up stating that his family was not to make decisions for him. If they were able to cancel all of his financial stuff and apartment and get rid of all of his belongings, what is to say they couldn't do it again. He needs some legal security. I know that wasn't probably the point of the story, but after being taken advantage of and having his whole life taken away from him with no repercussions, I felt like this was lacking in the closure of the incident. Just my two cents.

Jay, Boone, and Cameron were an absolute delight to read about and watch develop into a strong, loving family. Boone and Jay met many years ago during an unexpected hookup. The experience left both of them remembering and craving more, but circumstances threw a wrench in everything. Now, many moons later, Jay is crushing on Cameron, who is finally starting to move on from his partner who passed away. Cameron is attracted to Jay, but before he acts on it, he meets Boone. Boone is a total sweetheart, and Cameron is very much interested. He struggles a slight bit because he likes both guys, but when he invites Boone out to coffee and sees Boone and Jay's reaction to each other, he gets this idea in his head that the three of them should be together.
I absolutely loved how the three of them started their relationship together. Even though there were some moments between the different couples prior, they didn't start out as one couple adding a third. They really did start the whole thing together as a group. Communication was key, and I loved how that was emphasized with them. They were so sweet together, but also so very, very hot. I loved this a lot, and this is my favorite of the entire series.

Zach is a shy guy who blushes constantly. Craig sees the blushing as a challenge, until he realizes how much it bothers Zach. They form a tentative relationship as they get to know each other, and it felt organic in the way they came together and got to know each other. There were communication glitches throughout as we see insecurities come out and we meet evil family members, but fortunately the guys overcome those hurdles.
I enjoyed the majority of the book. There were times where it was a bit much for me in the kink area (Zach, despite being super shy, really loved the idea of gang bangs). These parts were well written and orchestrated, but at first, I felt like Craig wasn't on board and it felt a little out of character for Craig to go along with it. Eventually, you see that it all works out, but it was a bit heavy at first.
