Michael Crick is a British broadcaster and journalist. In 1982 he was a founder of the original Channel 4 news team. In 1992 he joined the BBC2's Newsnight programme as a political correspondent. He remained with the BBC until 2011 when he returned to Channel 4. He is a life-long supporter of Manchester United F.C.

Like Crick's other books this one is also highly readable and well-informed on the subject on hand. While it may appear somewhat dated as it was written in 1985 it will be of interest for those who study or who have studied this period in British political and industrial relations policy. Arguably Scargill was at his zenith when the book was written but Crick painted a picture of a man who also had obvious flaws all of which contributed to his nadir in the next few weeks following the book's publication.… (mer)

I read this book ages ago. It's about how the Edward's family got their hands on Manchester United F.C. It's a bit dated now but still interesting. I look forward to Michael Crick writing another book about how the Glazers bought United, saddled the club with a massive debt and out-priced the working class fans. FCUM
