Francis W. Dahl (1907–1973)

Another wartime collection of Dahl's charming and light-hearted editorial cartoons, which like as not veer off into odd corners of what's going on in Boston.

The longtime Boston Herald cartoonist's collection of wartime cartoons, which are usually very lighthearted and very often poke fun at Boston in a genial way. The cartoons hold up very well.

Interesting book by the long-time editorial cartoonist for the Boston Herald. Dahl had broken his right (drawing) arm, and was thus forced to use his "weak" arm to draw in the interim. The humour is the same; it's surprising to see how effective he was using this arm. A relatively rare book from a small publishing house.

Cheerful, light-hearted and pleasant collection of cartoons done by a long-time cartoonist for the Boston Herald. Dahl would usually take a brief news item, and turn it into an absurdity, usually poking fun at Bostonians for it, with a number of stock Boston figures. Definitely a tonic for the glooms.
