First, I question whether there is a benefit to this movie. Hence my rating. Incredible actors and acting, although I question if Queen Elizabeth actually walked as fast as Helen Mirren portrayed her. I wonder what the purpose is for making this movie. It is set around Princess Diana's death. Based on the title, it seems to be not about that, but about the Queen. If someone were to make a movie about the Queen, then looking at a larger picture of her life would be fitting, and more interesting to me. Perhaps the movie is intended to be about a pivotal point in the United Kingdom monarchy, which seems to best fit the content of the movie, and which the title does not best portray. So, perhaps, it is mostly a matter of a title not fitting the point of the movie. That said, the topic is not of strong interest to me, and did not draw my interest. It mostly had interest to maybe see a better glimpse of what these famous figures were like, and see how a public situation / sentiment was handled. Small things. I can appreciate the work that went into this movie, but not that it needed to be made. It is interesting enough, yet I would not recommend making a point to see this movie.

We were caught up in the film almost from the start, finding it sad yet with some superb one-liners and comic moments to lighten the serious nature of the film. It was very powerful, demonstrating the cruelty that apparently wasn’t uncommon towards unmarried mothers in the 1960s, and also the power of forgiveness.
