The German Navy could only challenge the RN under specific circumstances and at last, it was reduced to only twp major surface units, the Scharnhorst, and the Tirpitz. They were hiding out in Norwegian fjords, and the Scharnhorst was sunk in December of 1943. This book the "Sea Battles in Close-up #8", details the air attacks on the Tirpitz with good appendices, photos and some maps.
