In 1878 and 1879, an eighteen-year old girl named Esther Cox became the center of poltergeist activity allegedly caused by a gang of six ghosts. Actor Walter Hubbell visited her and her family during the haunting, recorded some hard-to-believe phenomena, tried to turn the girl into a lecture-hall celebrity and failed when she found herself unable to tolerate heckling. Quick, easy read. It was written in the 1880's and is quite old-fashioned. You can easily imagine it being made into a documentary type black and white film.
