Om migI'm 31, British and a part-time postgrad student. I like to cook and write as well as read, and I'm keen on music and walking.

I usually have at least a dozen books on the go, and my Currently Reading tag is usually pretty up-to-date. If your timing is just right, you may even be fortunate enough to spot some light fiction and fluff novels flitting around in there - right before they hurtle at astonishing speed towards completion and the 2009 tag, leaving Dickens and Trollope, several textbooks and the Sermons of John Donne trailing in their wake.

My 75 Books Challenge thread for 2008. 2008 was the year of manic reading of Georgette Heyer (15 books) and PG Wodehouse (11 books), and discovering Terry Pratchett. I made it through 181 books, and vowed to read fewer but better books in 2009.

I completed the 999 Challenge. Hooray!

My 75 Books Challenge threads for 2009: January-April, May-September, October-December. 2009 was the year of overdosing on Terry Pratchett (20 books), of discovering Barbara Pym, Anthony Trollope and Josephine Tey - and of deciding I might (just possibly, a little bit) like Dickens after all. I'm on course for 250 books and I've read an awful lot of mind-candy alongside some great literature. So much for resolutions.

My 75 Books Challenge thread for 2010.
In 2010 I'm expecting to read a lot of academic stuff on church history, and hoping to:
~finish the whole of Terry Pratchett's Discworld series
~finish Trollope's Barsetshire series
~read at least 4 plays
~complete my 1010 challenge
~take at least 50% of my reading from my TBR
~reduce my out of control TBR to under 300 books (hah! like that'll happen!)
~read at least one volume of In Search of Lost Time (hah! again)
~have at least 10% of my recreational reading be non-fiction (and thrice hah!)

I've made an early start on my 1010 Category Challenge. I'm reading:
I: Christian Books - Christian fiction, theology, spirituality
II: Non-fiction Books
III: Old Books - books bought second-hand
IV: Victorian Books - Trollope, Dickens, Hardy, the Brontë sisters, Elizabeth Gaskell and others: any fiction by British authors first published between 1837 and 1901.
V: 1001 Books - any books from the 1001 Books to read before you die list(s) by Peter Boxall.
VI: Funny Books - fiction with an element of humour
VII: Overseas Books - books by non-British authors
VIII: Recommended Books - Books other people have told me I ought to read
IX: Puzzling Books - crime, thriller, mystery…
X: Just Books - because there are more types of book than there are categories.

Om mitt bibliotekMuch as I'd like to think I've listed every book I own, I keep finding stray ones that I've missed. I'd love to know where they hide: wherever it is, I'm beginning to suspect they're holding my odd socks and biro caps hostage there. Or perhaps I have a Book Fairy. Still, in theory all my books are now listed.

Some books are recreational reading, some are for preaching - I'm a Methodist local (i.e. lay) preacher - and others are for study. My library is stuffed with the classic literature, history and light fiction that makes up most of my reading. I like a good mystery - especially from the golden age - and the occasional romance (but if I'm reading a lot of romance it's not good: I only do that when I'm VERY stressed!) There's a little bit of biography and science in there somewhere, a hefty stack of theology and Christian spirituality, and the odd book on music, dialect, art or fashion. Plus, I used to teach history, and I still have some books left over from then.

Books tagged TBR are books I own and have yet to read; in theory, this should be identical to my To Read Collection. The total has gone up rather a lot since I joined LT, and continues to go up at an alarming rate (thanks very much, BookMooch!); it's just hit 300 for the first time ever and shows no sign of stopping.

I've moved all the books in my catalogue which I don't own to the Read but Unowned collection. Some of these are books I've given away, some are library books or books I've borrowed from friends and family. I've also added a stack of textbooks that I know I read when I was at university because even now, ten years later, I've still got the notes in a file somewhere.

It's only in the last couple of years that I've started keeping records of what I read, so there are an awful lot of books that I read in the past that I haven't been able to add - a good couple of thousand, including an awful lot of library books and anything that got weeded before 2007. If I spot a book and think "I've read that!", I often add it to my library.

I've also finally managed to add my wishlist, which is expanding even faster than the TBR.

Oh, and books in my BookMooch inventory are tagged as @Moochable.

Oh good! Glad I sent it "again" :) LOL -- My brain bears very close resemblance to a sieve!

Sadly my gift to Stephane was a flop! I scrapped a calendar with Buckaroux and he burst into tears and couldn't touch it. Poor guy. I felt like a complete schmoe. Oops.

His bday is the 27th. And, yup, you guessed it, his bday present is also Buckaroux. I told him he won't like his bday present either so when he unwraps it I'll tell him what it is and he can look at it when he's ready. It's a credit card wallet that is full of scrapped Buckarouxs...

Blessings sis.

Susan
send me your email and I'll send you an invite :)
Checking to see if you had Stott's Cross of Christ. It would have been coming your way if you didn't already have it. I have to agree with the tag: Read THIS book next (ish. :) Wonderful.
LOL -- you're a blessing! I love that you decided to keep your sense of humor :) It can come in handy. xoxo
Hi Caty, thanks again for joining the Pym group and for adding me to your list :) I see you are currently reading 'Framley Parsonage', hope you are enjoying it. And the Wodehouse! Regards, Laura.
Hello and thank you for adding my library to your list of interesting ones.
I hope you find something you want to add to your collection among my books. I am trying to stop buying books, but it is more difficult than I thought. How can I resist an appealing title beckoning me from a pile in my favourite used bookstore or at a library sale? Practically impossible!
Happy reading!
