- John Fitzpatrick (ca. 1737 - 20 March 1791), British merchant who came to New Orleans around 1768. In 1769 he was exiled from New Orleans and settled at Manchac, a tiny British outpost just north of the border of Spanish Louisiana. Fitzpatrick became a wealthy planter and trader, and remained in Manchac until his death. His letters, held at the New York Public Library, were published in Margaret Fisher Dalrymple, ed. The Merchant of Manchac: The Letterbooks of John Fitzpatrick, 1768-1790. Baton Rouge: Louisiana State University Press, 1978.
