Om migI'm a writer and small publisher in Colorado.
My reading is all over the table, from dense literary things that I struggle through to keep my brain from completing its metamorphosis into oatmeal, to scientific books, to essays, all the way to fluffy mysteries, science fiction and humor.
As a writer, I'm best known for writing funny books on dull subjects, like electronics, algebra and calculus. But I also write fiction, poetry and music. My music has been recorded and played on the radio, my poetry and fiction have been published but, even being generous, one must describe me as an "obscure writer."
Om mitt bibliotekI've just started listing books here, so this list is not yet representative. There is no way I'm going to add all the physical books I own. This is just to help keep track of books I've actually read and remember. And, to be fair, if I hated a book or didn't finish it, it doesn't seem reasonable for me to include it.Someone else probably liked it and therefore I'm just the wrong reader. I've had enough people say things like, "Amdahl's books were too elementary for me" and then give me two stars on Amazon. Geez, if it was too easy for you, or my style didn't fit your taste, why did you bother saying anything? Don't you realize there are many difficult and boring books for you to choose among without picking on me? On the other hand, I've read some books that are so obscure there is no way to enter them into this system and wish I would run into someone who also had read them. I will cautiously dip my toe into the librarything waters and hope it does not get bitten off. Likewise, I will leave your toes alone. Thank you.

Thanks for your kind words. I was not certain about whether you were asking me to email you my name or the review. In either case, I am honored that you'd want to include it on your website. So, I am going to do both.
As to needing to check in on LibraryThing more often, I think you'd find it enriching and enlivening. I surfed a bit, looking at some of your writing, blogging, and the like. I found consistent references to your love of reading, which was part of the reason my wife made your book a gift for me. She also sent me along to LT. The community of readers are wildly interesting. As a member of the 75 Book Challenge Group for 2009, where you posted a note, I am treated to daily postings about dozens and dozens of other people's reading. We argue, commiserate, and generally wax on about books and authors. You should really take a stroll through some other threads there.

Both Kiln People and To Say Nothing of the Dog are favorites of mine--I love their humor.

I just wanted to thank you for Calculus for Cats. I start Calculus in just a few weeks and the book really helped ease my mind.
Also, it was hilarious, especially since I have three cats.
Again, thank you!

Hmmm...I think my last message was lost to cyberspace, so I apologize if I repeat myself. Thank you for your advice. The Jacobs book is on my list. Also, thank you for the compliment about my writing. It means a lot to me, coming from a published author. Especially a published author that can make algebra sound fun.
Peace and Laughter,
Cristina

My daughter struggled with algebra, mainly because I never understood it and I was homeschooling her. Then I came across your book, Algebra Unplugged. Thanks to you, she can now explain some of these concepts to me (I must now shamefacedly admit that I haven't had time to finish the book myself. It is on my list. I have a very long list.) She thought your book was fun and really helped make algebra less scary. Thank you for making my job easier. I have two more children to teach algebra to and your book is one of the ones I will be using over and over again!
Peace and Laughter,
Cristina
P.S.-What do you have for geometry?
