Hi, K. Haven't seen you around in a bit. Hope all is well with you and that you aren't tired of this friendly place.
Be in touch if you will!
Peggy
hi! yes, still at villanova, but not for long. i graduate this month with my MA in theatre. i love the school, but I am SO glad to be nearly done.
Indeed! I did them the other way around, but my practice reading the church fathers certainly gave me a head start on reading medieval texts.
I've recently started Abraham Heschel's Introduction to the Jewish Prophets, and I've just read his little chapter on Amos. Otherwise, I've been picking up and putting down Lettie Russell's book on liberation theology and feminism (whatever the actual title is) - mostly leaving it alone. I still haven't gotten used to having real reading time, so my greed sends me flipping pages in all directions. I hope that eventually I'll calm down and actually be able to read deeply as well as widely.
Peggy
Blessings on your head! (I'm actually much closer to Fort Bragg; same difference.) I bet you'll find a fit here.
Meanwhile, my first major was Bible and Religion, so I continue to read a little theology and church history. AND at one point I wanted to be a medievalist, so I read a fair number of texts in translation and started learing Latin on that account. I later came to love the Latin poets so much that I took the classical path, but things medieval still beckon.
Peggy
MKLD, I am very happy to have access to your two good reviews. I'll be interested to see what we have in common when we both get full libraries catalogued here. Meanwhile, I must say that I don't particularly want to be any place where you would be a misfit.
Peggy
BTW, those reviews were exceptional. You can definitely write.
That's funny! -- Very glad to have you, and looking forward to interesting conversation! I see Carmen appears as #1 in your "Members with MisfitKotLD's books"
I loathe the fact that I sold my books back in the spring '07 semester. I am lamenting the loss of our Medieval Europe books :(
I am so surprised how many of my books do not have ISBN or LCC numbers.
