Om mig

I LOVE ....Laughing and spending time with my 2 sons (19 & 21), celebrating when they win their race/game and watching them grow up into the extraordinary, handsome young men they are. Hot coffee (black, please) in the morning, homemade cookies, chocolate, going to the movies, going out for dinner, tulips, puppies, sleeping in on Sundays, new clothes, cooking, listening to music, long walks, watching a movie on a rare afternoon, practicing yoga (hot), summer days, adore used book sales, popcorn, bonfires, airports, hot chocolate on a cold day, traveling, going for ice cream, the beach, thunderstorms, fireworks, homemade soup, catching up with old friends and making new ones, my book club, succeeding at work and living life.

Om mitt bibliotekHistorical fiction is always a favorite genre for me but I'm always willing to explore other genres as well as to try new authors. LT has been most helpful with this. There are numerous books in my library that I read to and with my sons as they were growing up as well as many favorites from my own childhood. Story time was precious during those years and remain treasured moments in our memories.

Many of my books are secondhand, happily discovered at used book sales or at library sales. I bring them home and cherish them and there is always a pile stacked by my bedside. I make time each and every day to read something, even if only for a few precious moments. I'm always happy and open to hear suggestions for something new to read. So please, come on in (the coffee pot is always on), introduce yourself and get comfortable. I look forward to getting to know my fellow "Library-Thingers".

I had to let you know that I'm 2/3 of the way through Gillespie and I. Oh my God! I was up until 3am because about 1/2 way through Harriet Baxter ends up 'you know where' and I'm like "What???" so I just kept reading! I have my theory but this is an extremely clever book. I really liked The observations but Gillespie and I is on a whole different level.
I will let you know when I finish(hopefully today) although I have so many stupid chores and phone calls to make.
Best,
Diane

Cool! I will put that next on the list!

I am intrigued by Unbroken. Hope to get to it.
Thanks! I loved your profile too. I'm interested in what you think of Come Thou Turtle. It's on my pile!
Hi Kim! You left a comment on my shelf a while back... :')

I enjoyed reading your profile page & perusing your books. You have good taste! I'll be sure to be back to browse your latest additions.... Happy Reading and Merry Christmas!
Hi Kim,

Thank you for your kind words about my review of Room. I was lucky to request it at the library before it became so popular. Although, I wouldn't regret purchasing it. I think it's one of those few new books that I'd like to keep in my permanent collection. Let me know what you think of it after you've read it. ~Donna~
Hi Kim, I'm looking forward to looking through your library. Isn't LT a fun and inspiring group for us readers? I, too, love used books. I often wonder about the people who read them before me. I'm also a bit of a book hoarder -- something I need to work on as I'm running out of shelf space!

Your two sons are lucky to have such a vibrant and involved mother. Enjoy them (as I know you are) because they do grow up and leave the nest. But then you get grandkids in time so life is still good! Thanks for your nice note.

Happy Reading to you,
Donna
Hi NovaLee--Thanks for adding me to your "Interesting Library" short list! I am honored. We do share a fair number of books, not to mention our real first name. : ) Loved and read all the books on your recently added list except Fifth Business (which I have not read). Hope to see you around. You can visit me on my thread here: http://www.librarything.com/topic/94307

Thanks NovaLee:)

A Fine Balance was picked for the reading group at the local library, and I'm so glad it was! Initially I was a bit daunted by the size of it, but I found I just didn't want to put it down. The group is actually meeting tonight to discuss it; I know at least one other member loved it as well, and I'm really looking forward to seeing what everyone else thought of it.

And yes - we must definitely read something else by Rohinton Mistry!

Happy reading :)
Hiya,

Thanks for adding me to your interesting libraries, and for your kind words about my reviews. You've got some FAB books in your library as well and I've added it. I love meeting people on here who I've met on the forum, so thanks for making contact.:)

Happy reading!

Thank you for adding me to your interesting libraries list. I enjoyed reading your profile, and after looking at your library, it appears we enjoy a lot of the same types of books. In fact, I added a couple of your books to my wishlist - - The Elegance of the Hedgehog (which I've been hearing about from various sources) and Paddle to the Amazon (I love adventure books and then I pass them along to my outdoorsman son).

I really enjoyed reading your comments about each book. I use this section to refresh my memory about the book.

Happy reading!
Speaking of Anna Quindlan, "Black and Blue" is on my Wish List. I recently read her "Blessings" and thought it was quite good. I'm currently reading a very slow moving Joanna Trollope, "A Passionage Man", and just taking my time. After plowing through Steig Larsson "The Girl Who Played With Fire" in under 3 days, I'm enjoying a much slower paced read.
Hi again NovaLee - I've been meaning to come back and tell you that I finished "Where the Heart Is" and really liked it. I need to edit/change my first comment in that it is NOT NEARLY as dreary as many of Oprah's picks that I've read. I intend to read other books by Letts.
Hi NovaLee - Thanks for leaving a comment on my page. Welcome to Library Thing! This has been the best Cheap Thrills I've had in a long time. I'm still reading "Where The Heart Is". I'm enjoying it and it's not quite as dreary as many of Oprah's picks. Feel free to browse my library anytime.
