Om mig I'm a long time Tolkien fan/collector, also into Science Fiction and Cult TV.

Om mitt bibliotek The library is a shared with my other half. Tolkien, U.N.C.L.E., James Bond, Science Fiction and Archaeology are mostly there because of my interests. Children's fiction, museum studies, Dutch architecture and Welsh are largely her fault. The fantasy and detective fiction are shared interests, as are the maps.
Almost all our library is now on LibraryThing.
Mostly I haven't added posters/prints although a few with ISBNs are there as a result of the initial bulk import or because they are by an author I particularly collect.
Periodicals have not been added unless they consist of items which are books in their own right.
CDs/Records/Audio cassettes have only been added if they are audio books or spoken word rather than music.
DVDs and Videos have not been added at all.
The large collection of theatre and concert programmes has not been added.
All of our "guide books" have now been added (I hadn't realised how many we had).
I've now added most of the Japanese books and guide books we acquired in Japan this summer (2007) for the rest I need someone who can read/type Japanese.
[She says: she thinks she is "helping" with tags. She is also trying to write reviews of EVERYTHING where we are the only owners - particularly where it is inexplicable why such a great book is not on more shelves. She wonders if our library is ever flagged as the top (or anywhere near the top) of 'users with your books': you are all much more like one another than you are like us].

Rivendell,
Thanks for pointing out that the "Blackwell Bookshop Oxford" should be combined with "Blackwell's (Oxford)." When I created the venue I did not realise the venue already existed. I deleted the one I created as best I could and put the photo on the "Blackwell's (Oxford)" venue instead.

wow - thanks for remembering to check on The Witch Doll and A Candle in Her Room. hope the new home is amazing. i just myself assembled two new bookcases & did a lot of book rearranging. always satisfying.
Rivendell, I'm very curious about your book by [[Ruth Arthur]], [The Witch Doll[. Is it related at all to Arthur's book [A Candle in Her Room]? You're the only one who has this book! Best, Laura Quilter
When we needed a new car, we really needed a new car, having run our decade-old family hatchback into the ground. I have never been a committed enough collector to consider factoring it into the family finances, and I have never attempted to extend my shelf of first edition C. S. Lewis into Narnia books, which seem absurdly expensive.
I saw your comment about 'users with your books'. You are no. 6 on my raw list at present. (I think both collections are too diverse to match on any 'weighted' list.) But I'm not going to be in the same league as anyone who has the time and money to seek out rarities like Songs for Philologists.
Hi Rivendell, love the collection. Where on earth did you find all those rare (or OP) Ursula K. Le Guin books?
Hello, I was playing around and looking at some of the profiles who shared a large number of my books. I want to know whose fault the murder mysteries in your library are, because they seem to like some of my favorite authors as well. Have you visited any groups yet? There are several for Tolkien fans, a wild and woolly, yet very friendly one is the Green Dragon. Also there is a Children's Literature group. I'm having fun talking to many people about the books we love, and spending way more time than I should...:)
I' have a chance of buying the first 4 volumes for $30, so I think I'll go ahead and order it. I could by the whole set with its own box for $75, but I'm still trying to decide.

If you're ever interested in other Japanese version of the Hobbit, they're much cheaper in Japanese Yahoo auctions. I bought mine for $10 a while back. They also have the 2 volume edition for $7.

I love your Tolkien collection. It gives me ideas of what I want to buy next. :)
Where did you get your version of Yubiwa Monogatari? I've been loooking around for the 70's version illustrated Terashima Ryûichi, but it's so expensive on Yahoo Japan.
