Om migMy love of reading started early. I even worked at my childhood library reading shelves, amongst other things, and also worked at my university library second year. I strayed into business after that but have returned to what I love most.

Now I'm a writer cum stay-at-home dad (at least after 2:30 p.m. on weekdays-- pretty much full-time dad over summer vacation). Short works published in Nocturnal Ooze Magazine and 69 Flavors of Paranoia. Tweaking a contemporary dark fantasy novel and shopping to agents and major publishers.

Genetic genealogy: member of haplogroup R1b (sometimes called the Celt gene -- although it existed before the Celts. Go figure.) -- out of Mother Africa 50,000 years (Probably Kenya). A generation removed from the UK after about 10,000 genetic years there. Cool.

Om mitt bibliotekI'm eclectic in my taste for books. I'll read almost any genre.

I hadn't even thought about the possibility that books were on sale at Fort King George. To me Miss Bessie was just the lady who played the organ at the Presbyterian Church when I was a boy. It's always hard, I suppose, to think of one's own native turf as in any sense a tourist attraction.
I'm a native of Darien who's been gone many years. I'd really like to know how you came across Miss Bessie Lewis' book.
Loved your review of "A Wrinkle in Time." I had a similar experience--just now read the book for the first time at age 29, was worried as soon as I saw "It was a dark and stormy night."

Lovely book indeed, though!
