on Burr, one thing I realized from my listings is that I never actually finished the book. It came at a bad time or soemthing. I plan to go back and read it all.

Since my real goal was to enter books I've read, I actually figure just hit 1000 about now. As you can see if you view my tags, my list includes about 60 not finished, plus 25 unread (mainly signed copies that I wanted to have a list of), and some others that I'm currently reading. So if it had been a competition, maybe you'd win.

I always feel guilty not finishing a book, and am surprised at how many there are. this will give me a way to ensure that I go back and finish a lot of them. As for why I entered them, well, if I've spent enough time with a book, and gotten more than halfway done, and it has had an impact on my life, then I want to keep track of it.

I also enjoyed Bonfire of the Vanities and thought it was a significant book. The Parker books are ideal for during holidays or when one is sick, when one isn't able to concentrate on longer, deeper books -- they go quickly, are fun, yet have good characters and plots. From looking at your list, I think you've picked up a BUNCH from me. No wonder your library is so congruent with mine. Your's is #1 at LT in terms of percent overlap with mine. Clearly we have good taste.

yes, it had Tom Hanks in it. I saw an excerpt of the beginning, where he's trying to walk the dog and call his girlfriend, and it was quite amusing. Anyway, if you want to hear the book on tape I can lend it. It's on casette. John Lithgow does the narration, and he achieves the PERFECT sense of outrage and satire with his tone.

say, do you ever listen to books on tape? I know you liked Bonfire of the Vanities, which I loved. I have it on tape, and it was wonderfully done! In fact, I listened to it in the same weeks I was reading the book, and one enhanced the other. Now I just have to see the movie

I agree with your approach of only listing books read. But I have added some, with the "tag" unread including some signed books, and some other special ones. I also added some that I am currently reading and some that are unfinished (also with tags).

Yes, I noticed the separated volumes of A Thousand and One Nights. I am proud of having resisted moving them together on your shelf.

so, I take it your list will just be those you've read, right? I intended to have mine be that, but some have sneaked in that I haven't finished, plus some collector's items (Signed books) that I haven't necessarily read.

wow, you are number ONE on my list of people with whom I share books (the weighted, not the raw number). Of course this is partly because I scan your files to see what you have that I have or in the case of fiction, have at least read.
