Om mig I have a great love and respect for animals, particularly my dogs, caged animals, and animals bred for food.
Om mitt bibliotek My collection started when, as a teenager, I decided that I wanted to read more than was offered at school. Early on I read mostly English history and fiction recommended by my sister. But over time I began to really appreciate the whole world of knowledge that I had ignored simply because I'd never heard of it. I developed a scattered interest in areas that, as a westerner, we aren't much expected to care about - histories from non-English speaking countries, foreign literature, obscure subjects - because it felt like I was opening doors to places I wasn't expected to go. There is so much more out there than we are offered by local bookshops.
I have always loved history and have attempted to compile a collection that satisfies my mania for comprehensiveness on a subject. Likewise, my fiction collection is the result of some kind of obsession I have for owning absolutely everything besides chick lit, Dan Brown, and books on sport, the last of which I don't consider books at all. (I remember once watching some footballers being interviewed on tv about their favourite books. To the question, What is your favourite book?, the most common answers were such titles as Ralph, Rugby League Week, the Daily Telegraph, and other glossy magazines and newspapers. It was only then that I realised that this cohort of meaty-brain types so closely associated the word book with reading that the latter subsumed the former, and they simply had no idea what a book was).
There are lots of titles and authors missing from my collection, but I no longer have the desire to accumulate on the same scale as a developing planet, and I often focus on getting one title that I feel I just can't let pass. At the moment I am after City of Shadows - a collection of mug shots and crime scene photos from early 20th century Sydney. I also regularly keep rss feeds on ebay awaiting the listing of some obscure title that may chance its way on there that I can get without paying 500% for it somewhere else.

I have just spotted that you have added me to your list of 'Interesting Libraries',for which I thank you. I have spent many years in putting my Library together so I am always pleased when someone finds it of interest.
We seem to share over 400 books, which is quite a high proportion and I must say that I agree with you absolutely about those books that you don't like.(Sport in particular)
Am I right or incorrect in that the profile that you mention above is mine ? Maybe not.If it was you will see that it was a difficult decision for me to make on the CD/Tape front, and that I have decided against entering my DVD's.
Anyway it is very nice to hear from you and do keep in touch.
Best wishes from England.
