Om migI love books! Always have, always will. We have home movies from my first birthday and every time I opened a book, it had to be read to me at least twice before I would open another present. Then I worked on and off for a large bookstore chain (no not that one, the other one), which I loved.

Om mitt bibliotekI have a lot of different books. Mostly fiction, I especially love "chick lit" and historical fiction, depending on my mood and often the season ("chick lit" just seems more readable in the summer). I also have a lot of religion books, my BA is in religion, so there are text books and books I just find interesting. I think you'll find there's a little bit of something for everybody on my list.

With the New Year comes a New Challenge. I'm going for 75 in 2009:

I've also decided to start working my way through various "Top 100" lists. I'm starting with the BBC list that's been circling the internet for the last couple months.

Check out my "Currently Reading" collection to see what I'm working on now!

We'll pay you back, unless you want that to be our present, then we won't.
So I've wanted to read some Sherlock Holmes -- can you believe I've never read any? But I was also looking forward to the movie. Something you said in a post sometime sounded like the movie looks like it butchered the book (maybe it was regarding New Moon? about movies cramming in the action?). Now I don't know if I should even try to read the book before the movie. Perhaps I should continue in my Sherlock Holmes ignorance in order to enjoy the movie and read the books after. Then maybe I can enjoy each for what they are and not try to make the movie live up to the book. There's my little rambling thought for the day ... what's your take? :)
You are awesome. Again, I will do my utmost to return the favours xx
Oh my gosh, that would be incredible!! Trust me not to have been around the month something like that came up! However, knowing my luck, it wouldn't have been availalble to UK readers, or I wouldn't have snagged it anyway!! And at least the reason I wasn't here for it was that I was actually with the Orangutans! ha ha ha!! You're so incredibly kind, bib. Thank you so much. xx
elfster sent me an email saying I need to enter my mailing address, but it's already there?
I just noticed lol. Thx anyways, I think you should get the email either today or tomorrow.
yeah, bib, its the right address. I will check my spam filter. Thanks!
Is it too late to do the gift exchange?
no problem, I was going to save it anyway.
Oh, well in that case would you like progress pictures after all? I know it's not the same as the surprise of the finished product but it would mean you don't have to wait as long to start making other decisions.
I am happy to report that I have now progressed far enough on your quilt to be sure that I am quite happy with it. I am far more certain that you'll like it too. Even if you weren't worried about it, it makes me feel better!
Yes, I did get your dad's message so no worries. That stinks that you had no power though. I hope they fixed it for you.

It was a good episode so definitely watch it online when you get a chance.
Will you be about for chat tonight? I'm assuming HIMYM is on though I didn't actually check.

Also, if you did want any Pampered Chef stuff, you have until tomorrow at 5pm to put in your order.

I hope you're having a lovely day! :)
Lovely! I'll add you to my list.

Chat would be great! I will actually be around this time too, unlike when I was supposed to be there but always late. Yay for a new season!
Noticed you liked Lovely Bones, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in reviewing my new novel and posting your comments here, as well as a few other book-related sites. Thought you might like my book since it also contains a young female narrator struggling with a series of tragic circumstances. I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like (I'm out of physical copies at the moment). Here's a link to a summary (and a sample chapter) in case you'd like to read more about the book before you commit:

Thanks,

Oh, dear! Thanks for reminding me! it had completely slipped my mind. ok I'll do it right now....
Hey you! I hadn't been around all that much lately and just wanted to say hi. I was working on your quilt today, which is probably why I was thinking about you. I keep going back and forth between being sure you're going to absolutely love this quilt and positive you will wonder whatever I was thinking when I came up with it.

Personally, I love the colors. It's just hard to tell exactly what the finished product will be until it is a finished product. And by then it is too late to change anything if it's not perfect.

Are you opposed to work-in-progress pictures? I wasn't sure if you want the whole thing to be like, Surprise! It's finished! Or more like, look how it's coming, is this okay? I'm assuming the former, hence, you have not yet received any WIP pictures.

That's all I've got. Nothing really. Just stopping in to say hi and hope all is well. And I think you might either love or hate your quilt. ;)
Thanks for the info babe. I'll book my tickets soon!!! love ya! miss ya! Can't wait to see ya!

btw every time I see a beer commercial I think of you!!
YAY!
I expected everyone to be in an uproar, but from what I've read so far, most people loved the film.

It was pretty funny at times tho, I keep thinking about Snape's face when Lavender burst into the hospital wing to visit Won Won. Ah, I loved that scene.
Hey thanks again for a fab weekend! It was awesome to catch HBP with you guys. No one else would understand me like you do.
hahahaha, that's fantastic!
yea, give me a heads up please.
I had a torchwood night and watched Monday nights episode last night. Still one day behind and since book club is tonight i'll be 2 days behind again on Thursday.
I was watching some old episodes of Torchwood last night. (I needed to catch up) and discovered that Ianto has Don's birthday. Same day and year! August 19, 1983.

2 mins 18 seconds in. :)
Doesn't look like we get BBC america in HD, so I'll just keep them on the small TV
Hi bib - Just wanted to let you know that I finished Blood of Flowers and I really liked it. It reminded me a lot of The Red Tent with the historical details and the focus on women in olden times but I especially liked the way the stories and storytelling was woven into the main narrative with the themes and morals of the tales being reflected in the narrator's life. Thanks for recommending it!!
lisa :)
Hey Bib! So what's the deelio? are we doing this thing next week?
Thanks so much for that! I think I'll try the download of PC Stitch and see how it goes. Thanks for the tips too :) The image link is great... can't wait to try some of them out... not to mention that I can't wait to see the new movie next week!
Heather, I'd love to know what software you used to create the pattern! I've been considering getting one of those programs for a few years, but every time I look at the options I just get overwhelmed and give up...! That's an incredible amount of time invested for a project... 440 hours!... but looking at the end result, it appears to have been worth it :) I'd like to attempt perhaps... just one of the squares first. Fortunately, I have a laptop so it wouldn't be too bad to have the computer open with the pattern while I stitch. I've actually had to do that before with some free patterns online that just refused to print properly!
I ordered some fabric today. :D
Hey, I'm being a nosy sister. You can have an extra key to my apartment for August. I'll either remember to bring it down with me next week or I'll give it to you when you come up at the end of the month, or I'll bring down with me the first weekend in August. So basically yes, you can stay at our place, in August, and no I won't be around when Lefty is there :(.
:D It'd be so great if you could be in NY too!! I'll be there August 5th or 6th through the 13th. Is that bad for Mandy? My whole family will be there, actually. Or most of them -- I forgot to ask for a count. Dad asked what I wanted to see while we were there and I said "LT friends!" And you're right, we used to be able to edit comments.

Thanks for the Doctor Who link! So is Dr. Who not an acceptable abbreviation? Just curious. I didn't want to keep committing Doctor Who faux pas. ;)

For sizing, I'll go for queen because bigger is better when it comes to blankets. I wasn't sure if you wanted details of your bedroom made public, which is why that last one was private, in case you were wondering. :)

Did I forget anything? I suppose I know where to find you again if I did!
okay
OMG OMG OMG!!! Bib, it is absolutely amazing!! Far and away the most beautiful cross stitch I have ever seen. I had no idea cross stitching could result in such a fantastic piece. And to have it the actual illustrations, which are awesome to begin with, makes it all the better. I love that you put it all in sequence to when it happened in the books. It's absolutely gorgeous. My favorite (at least at the moment) is the one of Sirius, shadowed with the mouse on the sill. Bib, it's wonderful. You are incredible. I am so impressed. I love it. I love it. I love it. It's perfect. I still don't feel like I've expressed how much I love it, but I'm running out of different ways to say it. Thank you!!!!

Do you have pictures to share with everyone else or shall I take some? I hope they aren't disappointed that it was for me after all. Thank you again!!
Hey! Last week was fabbbbbbbbb! Thank you so much! Say hi to the 'rents!
I got distracted and almost forgot!

It's not here yet, but SQUEEE!!! It's in the mail! :D
HI!

just thought I'd write and thank you again for The History of Now. I;ve finished it, and thought it was excellent. (I've not yet written a review, but will get round to it soon hopefully!)

Thanhks again, and remember if there's anything I can do in return... :-)

Oh that was too cute!!! Thanks for that link. Oh I'd love to see them. Too bad the timing is all off! I do love getting your updates though, so keep it going!

Hope you're well. I've been out all weekend, so off to catcj up on threads now!

All very helpful! I'll start keeping an eye out for fabrics!
I love the colors! I'm excited for this! :D

Typically I use cotton fabric and either cotton, polyester, or wool batting. I've never used down for anything like this so we should be set. Do you happen to know either what kind of bed you have or the dimensions of it? I hate a skimpy bed quilt that barely covers the top mattress so I just wanted to make sure of the size of the bed.

The vase is lovely -- you said you painted it? Painting is something I love but am not very good at. Which makes something well-painted all the more impressive to me! Do you want a similar theme for the quilt as the vase? The nature-type feel? From the colors and the look of the vase and everything else, we could go for the more soothing side or the more vivid, playful side. Do you have a preference? Or, what are a few words you'd use to describe the style you're looking for? It's all just so I know which colors get more highlights and what kinds of prints I'll be looking for. If you would rather not think about it, I'll take care of it, but if you have preferences, these questions help me understand them.

Let's hope for the end of the summer! As long as I can find what I want, that should be a very realistic time frame.
