Om mitt bibliotek
I'm still adding titles slowly. For the first time in my life I actually alphabetized my library. In the past, my books crowded my shelves in categories (contemp fiction, literary nonfiction, biography, history, etc). But as my library grew it became more and more difficult to remember where books were hiding, and to keep track of books I had out on loan. Like Anne Fadiman, I, too, am a bibliophile.
Om mig
I live in northern Idaho with my wife and two children and our house is very much a bookish house. Years ago, I took a BA in English from Southern Utah University and a MA in American Studies from Utah State. Currently, I teach creative writing at the University of Idaho where I serve as the Coordinator of the MFA Program.

My memoir, The Enders Hotel (Bison Books, 2008), winner of the 2007 River Teeth Prize for Literary Nonfiction, is also a 2008 Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers selection. My work has appeared or is forthcoming in the Dallas Morning News, The Utne Reader, Tin House, Shenandoah, The Missouri Review, Colorado Review, Columbia, Green Mountains Review, River Teeth, Ecotone, Isotope, and numerous other journals. My nonfiction has won the 2006 Willard R. Espy Award, the Pushcart Prize, two Pushcart Prize Special Mentions, and my essay, “The Enders Hotel,” from my memoir, was a Notable Essay in the Best American Essays 2007.
