The Irish in NJ book sounds ideal for you - and your brother. My Irish great-grandfather lived in NJ and so that's my "excuse" to buy it - i.e. sort of background genealogy research. Excellent favorite author list btw!
my religious beliefs are not based on my personal experiences...
They are based completely on what feels right to me..
but I am not catholic anymore. I never did feel comfortable in that skin, and was always in trouble for
asking the hard questions..
to each his own..
:)

but the book looks good!
hey,caite

thank you for the title. I have tucked it into my cart at Amazon to mull over.
I am sure I will buy it thus blowing my book buying moratorium all to bits.
I was raised catholic, and had some....interesting ... experiences in catholic school.
Few of them good, but I did make a life long friend of one of the nuns.

well.. off for a day of hanging out with my sister... hope your day is a good one

ok

I just wandered in here after reading another of your posts... just to say hello...
but now, I have to know.. what book is Siobhan73 talking about... it sounds like I might like to read it.
anyway

Hello!

bye now ..

Nice blog. If you like sea writing, have you tried American Sea Writing: A Literary Anthology? You can get it discounted new at libraryofamerica.com and even cheaper at amazon.
I loved it! Beautifully written, and it did tie out with the way of life I've observed in the Sisters I work for. Notably, the part about eveyone being reassigned each year. We have two Sisters in our office, and it is hectic when they both leave at the same time and we get new faces. We love them all, but the new ones have to be trained! In the summer we have First Profession and Final Profession, and each Fall a new group of postulants comes in.

There's a beautiful rhythm to convent life. This book described it nicely. Thanks :-)
