Om mig I'm a lover of words, storytelling and learning. I come originally from Yorkshire and have lived in Connecticut, Florida and Maryland. I'm a stay at home dad, and I'm attempting to become an author, shopping my first novel, an alternate history spy thriller.

Om mitt bibliotek I love history, and my library is replete with it, both fiction and nonfiction. I'm most interested in the ancient world, the Byzantine Empire, Venice, Shanghai, all periods of British history and world history during the imperialist period of, roughly, 1800-1950; lately I've also been learning a lot about Arab and Islamic history. If I see a biography of a political or military figure I don't already have a biography of, I'll probably buy it.

My library also contains plenty of both fantasy and science fiction, though I often say that since I've read both Tad Williams and Guy Gavriel Kay, it's difficult for me to find other fantasy authors who I think live up to the genre's potential. My science fiction shelves are dominated by the Star Trek, Star Wars and Doctor Who books that are the legacy of a misspent youth.

I too really like historical fiction. I looked through your list but didn't see Dorothy Dunnett. Surely you know her work: the Nicolo series and the Lymond ones? If not, you have a genuine treat in store for you. Most of her novels take about 50-100 pages to get into but the effort is fully worthwhile and they are all about 500 pages long.

Cheers, Tyler
