Om migI run the technical services department at a mid-sized New England public library. I have kept a catalog of my books in some form since I was 10 years old, which just goes to show that I was always destined to be a cataloger.

Om mitt bibliotekI primarily collect S.F., fantasy, and graphic novels, but (much to the chagrin of my bank account) I have been unable to impose any real limitations on my collecting habit. I have attended bookaholic meetings.

Yes, Connie Willis is my undisputed favorite. Am eagerly anticipating something new from her (and for once, not novella length) in February.
Please keep in mind that it's vastly under-reported. I made it through my grown-up books, but I still have all my children's and YA to add, as well as many of my mysteries and classics. AND THEN there's all the books I've bought since the Fall of '07. I've really fallen behind on my library maintenance.
Hello,

I saw you just cataloged "The Prestige" By Christopher Priest and had to comment. I really enjoy his books and I hope you enjoy this one.

Caroline
I think someone sort-of did. But yeah, it's a concern.

You run the catalog in Pittsfield? Cool. I'm in Portland, ME but I lived most of my life in Cambridge...
this sounds silly..but our upstairs bathroom is really the most attractive setting for books in the house..We DID get some 4 nice desktop shelves from Levengers when they where having a sale a year ago, turned them sideways and stacked them, and have about 8' of shelving in a tiny room (easy reach a must!) w/ about 170 graphic novels and poetry volumes there. (At this point we're just about even w/ comix & novels, since i really didn't start buying them until our son got us into Sandman when he was finishing HS about 2002. And i've been buying the odd poetry volume since college.

We have a small (~1200 sq feet) house that's defn. ...odd..made out of steel doors, but lots of linear feet of built in shelves which is lovely.
great looking shelves and a neat idea for yr page photo..Makes me think of Levengers - porn for booklovers. Our books are in every room - except the bathroom w/ the bath/shower..The upstairs half bathroom does have poetry and graphic novels (and my wife's Xwords).
Hello jmgold, how are you!

I just finished reading Kirby: King of Comics and enoyed it very much. I thought you might be interested. It has inspired me to look for some reprints of his work.

Caroline (craso)
I am jealous, you always get the good graphic novels before I do. I just visited your weblog and you have some great reviews.
Nice library....looks like we have some common interests.
I like the photo of the shelves!
