Just checking in to say Hi!
I can't believe I haven't posted a comment on your page yet. (Or maybe I have, but it was eatten by the LT monster. ;) Anyway, just thought I'd pop over and say "Hey!" and keep those reviews coming. I love getting book recommendations that way. :)
Love your quote above! Take that, Peter Walsh! :-)
Hi Jenny,

I love your profile pic. What beautiful cat. How old is she/he?

I've been enjoying your reviews, although I suppose I should be somewhat cross with you for adding more books to my already teetering wislist and tbr piles.
Jenny

Congratulations on your hot review! Yet another one! Way to go!

Linda
Congrats on your hot review of The Town House. It certainly deserved it and I look forward to reading. Is it a series?
Jenny

I re-read your review of Getting Near to Baby. What an excellent review! I'm currently reading the book and I won't be able to write a better review than yours!

Thanks for recommending this wonderful book.

Linda
Congratulations for your HOT REVIEW of "Fire and Hemlock".
Ya wowed 'em again lunacat!~!~! You Rock!~!
big congratulatory hug,
belva
hi luna - I just joined lt a few days ago and I was reading the threads about mooching which I'd never heard of but which sounds like a great idea and by chance I saw your name and it made me smile.

years ago when I drove an open sports car in england if you drove past the same make of car you would flash your headlights at each other.

please don't feel you have to reply - this message is just the equivalent of a flash of my headlights - from one lunar to a luna (I'm lunarcheck on a chess site plasticbishop too). and we do have one book in common!

cheers lunar
Hi Jenny, just to say I haven't forgotten you, but the parcel of books that will (hopefully) be winging it's way to you after this weekend wasn't liked by the postal scales at work and it can be quite difficult to get to a post office during the week (disadvantage of working near a village vs advantage of nice green area in which to eat my lunch...). Looks like you've got lots of stuff to work your way through in the meantime at least!
Hi Luna - the ARC of the Forest of Hands and Teeth has arrived. Unfortunately it is not so much a book... It is actually 320 A4 pages bound together (uncorrected proof)...

If you are still interested let me know asap, as I have a friend going to the UK next week and she said she might have room in her bag for it. Otherwise it will be the normal long slow boat ride.

Regards
Donna
Lunacat- remember me? I angeled 3 books for you, but only 2 have arrived (The River Between Us and The Fall). The 3rd, The Blood of Flowers has not been accepted since I requested it on August 28th. I think the only reason the book was added back into her inventory is that the previous moocher cancelled after no response for 2 months. If it's okay with you, can I go ahead and post the 2 that I have for you and just wait and see if the other owner comes back to the land of the living?

Kristin (turtlegirl)
Ok.
Woo! OK, well, I'm definitely going to send you "The Lives of Christopher Chant" as I think you should read it next after "Charmed Life", but I'll send you a stand alone as well - I'll have a think, but maybe "Fire and Hemlock"? Hope you enjoy them!
Text reply hasn't arrived yet - must be lost in the ether somewhere!
I'm very happy to! Diana Wynne Jones is one of my all time favourite authors - mostly for the comfort/cosy factor, so it really pleases me when other people enjoy her too (ditto Neil Gaiman to a lesser extent). I like lending my favourites. Provided, of course, that they don't get lost or destroyed, but I trust you (and the DWJ books are all pretty battered anyway!) Let me know if you want to borrow any and I'll post/deliver you it/them.
Hi;
Mark and I have been discussing the possibility of another group read in November and want your input. We have narrowed it down to two books at this point. "The People of the Book" by Geraldine Brooks and "The Thirteenth Tale" by Diane Setterfield. So chat it up with friends or us and let us know if you are up for it and what you think. Probably the same plan as with "Pillars of the Earth" which seemed to work out perfectly for almost all of us.
Think it over and give one of us a shout.
hugs and looking forward to hearing from you,
belva
Glad you enjoyed it :-)
Hi luna,
I can hardly type, I am so excited! I guess I should rein it in until it has arrived, but I still can't believe you (we) got Inkdeath. Thanks so much, and I am so glad you can read it too! I assume you have read the other two? It isn't even available here in paperback yet, and it will be so expensive that I baulk at paying so much.

But I have just realised how thick it is! :( I don't think the other two are THAT thick??! So...would you like to wait for another mooch from me, to post with it and help with points vs costs? I'm sure one will come up - more and more of my wish-listed books are only available from members who won't send to me. *sigh* I don't know what I would do without our thread! Well, my TBR mountain range would be a lot smaller, is what - heee! I was watching and watching last night (actually you stopped me fretting very quickly) as I was sure a local would snag it first.

Let me know; and enjoy reading it.

I noticed you have added a Lindskold; I am beginning to find her books too - they look interesting, IMHO. Have you read any yet? And I didn't realise how many books we shared! Huh - how not? We have the same good taste in books, methinks!!! LOL!!!

Thanks heaps luna; I can't tell you how much I appreciate all your angelic help!
~Lyn
Luns,
surface is fine, I'm in no hurry thanks again for grabbing it.
~ Missy
I know what you mean - I wanted to be earlier really and am a bit miffed :-( If I can find a babysitter to cover the gap - or if Rup gets off earlier for some reason - I may be able to get there sooner.

Have saved your number - why don't you suss out how it's looking and text me when you've decided whether to hang out outside or go in? I think doors open at 7 but if the queue is building up I guess you may want to be relatively near the front.

Btw, just noticed you've put Dora Damage on your wishlist - want me to bring my copy along on Monday? I was planning to list it on Read It Swap It as I won't re-read it.
Luna,
What condition is the Eldest book in? I've got a copy that I was planning on sending to another BM member but if that one is in better condition then I'd very much like to hold off and use it instead. Also is it a MassMarket or a Trade Paper back. Thanks for mooching it for me.
~ Missy
Thank you so much!
I'm trying (failing, but trying!) to rein in my mooching until I finish some of my older TBRs, so I'll pass on the others, but thanks anyways.
I'm willing to wait on the Cirque Du Freak book. :)
If you don't want to though it's fine with me.
Thanks. I was just wondering, I'm excited to about it.
~ Missy
Books, cats, and horse instructor?! Woman after my own heart, you are!

Have any horses of your own?
No problem at all. *eyes TBR mountain* I'll just work on wittling these down a bit.
Thanks again!

Heather
No problem! Was actually in a bit of a hurry as had left work a lot later that had originally planned - will knock next time!
Not at all changed my mind - I'm all in favour of new Sandman converts!

There are 10 of them though, so I'll send them one at a time if that's OK? I should be able to post/drop off the first one at the weekend I think, but if not, it'll be next week. Hope you enjoy them as much as I have!
hello! Re Margaret Atwood: I've checked the train times from Cambridge and they go about every 10 mins at that time of the evening, so I can meet pretty much whenever. Topping website says 7 for 7.30, but I'm not sure if that means 'doors open' at 7 (and hence we ought to get there a bit earlier to make sure we're not too far back...). Will ask them tomorrow and see what they say.

Hurrah!

Cheers,
R/FT
Hey, just leaving you that reminder message you asked for.
Thanks for mooching Cirque Du Freak for me! My BM ID is MurdererDelacroix.
Thanks for keeping me posted regarding your grandmother. The emotional roller coaster is indeed very difficult. I went through the same thing in the process when my beloved grand mother was transitioning to the next life. I vividly remember crying very hard at her bedside, believing it was her last day, and then lo and behold the next day she would rally.

The hospice folk told me this was VERY "normal" at the end stages. While it was physically and emotionally draining, I learned the valuable lesson that life calls for life. I thought of this Dylan Thomas poem many times.

BIG hugs to you my dear.

http://www.bigeye.com/donotgo.htm
can you post a message on my profile saying which book I've angeled for you, otherwise I'll get confused. I'm not the most organised person!

Oh, I know what you mean. I have to put everything on paper, and then hope to remember where I put the paper on. Jeez.

Aaanyway, the details: the book is The Well of Lost Plots, by Jasper Fforde, and my bookmooch id is nkatkov. And my name is Beatriz and I live in Chile, nice to meet you :) And thank you for angeling for me!
Hi!

Love the cat pictures! Top picture could be my Miss Jessie and the face of the cat on the window ledge looks like my Mr. Bee!
Done! It's yours...

I remembered a thread where your mum explained she wasn't being rude to you...cos she was your mum, or she was allowed to be rude to you, cos she was your mum; or such! And I remember laughing a lot... so I was confused until I remembered that - aggh! That sounds terrible...

It WAS fun figuring it out though. I think it's great you both do this - if my mum was still alive we'd be snagging books together too! And thanks (to both of you) for your 'angel' help - again!
Hi, Lunacat! I see you are planning on joining us on the "Pillars" Read. That's great, glad to have you! I see you added "Lost City of Z". I read it a couple months ago and thought it was excellent! Enjoy and see you around!
Mark
Haha you're welcome, I'm just about to put it up on my inventory (I'm Ladyviolet on BM as well) i'll be sure to reserve it for you :)
ETA: done and reserved feel free to mooch :)
Oh, that's a shame.
Thanks very much; I'll keep you in mind if I need another UK angel. :)
Hi lunacat! Thanks for acting like an angel and mooch "Forbidden Shores" by Jane Lockwood for me.
I am Juliet982 here and at Bookmooch too.
Love the pictures of your cat! She's beautiful. Have she had her kittens yet?

Thank you!
I haven't forgotten about my mooching "Speak" for you, but the book's owner may not be sending it. She's a brand new member, who accepted mooches and put them all on indefinite delay. I emailed her, getting a vague promise of two weeks to a month and have emailed her again, it having been a month, only to get the same vague time span and excuses. I have no problem waiting in the hopes she is actually planning to send those books out, but you might want to put the book back on your wishlist and mooching it if you can (I would be happy to angel anything you find)--and only when you get the book, will I cancel the first mooch.

I hope you're having a wonderful early summer day.
Thanks for the angel offer, lunacat; Tiare is already on the case! :) I saw the book last week, but I was slow off the mark and someone else requested an angel before I could. Dang work gets in the way of mooching sometimes!
Yay! (Not for the delay, but that it was accepted and eventually I will be able to read it.) Also, surface mail is perfect. Thank you so much for angeling!
Someone wrote that cats "serve no purpose, obey no master", which certainly fits my Oz, but we all love him enormously and he allows us to do so.
It's always fun to mooch for someone else! I'll let you know when it arrives. Your cat is beautiful. I have a gray tabby, but he is enormous and somewhat musty and likes to demand love just after he's been out in the rain, leaving me with a handful of wet fur.
I think you are wonderful - even more so knowing you are as forgetful as me!!!!
Now I have these comments, they should remind me to remember to remind you - hah! As if....

There is no rush - honestly. I'm truly cultured - as per your profile, hehe.
Hello,
Any advance on Two Caravans yet? Do you want to put it up on BM, so I can mooch it - then you can delay it, but you will have the points - and I will have a reminder for my forgetful brain! LOL! I almost forgot you had gotten it, and was berating myself for losing it off my wishlist - and then I remembered and checked my comments here!!
*sigh* The pitfalls of growing old...
To be perfectly honest, I had to go check the tags in my gmail to remind me who I was angeling for. All I could remember was that I didn't request the book for myself . . .
Hi! Beyond the Deepwoods actually came in. I was nearly on the verge of asking you if you wanted to cancel, but apparently the moocher forgot to mark it sent a few weeks ago. The packaging wasn't quite secure enough - there's a slightly squished-in section of pages and something in transit seems to have stabbed at the spine, but it still manages to look surprisingly Very Good.

I'll throw it up on the site for you in a minute.
I just finished "The Sparrow", and it lived up to all of the rave reviews. If you are still looking for it, let me know and I will list it and reserve it for you on BookMooch.

Lisa
Thanks, that's very kind of you! I think I'm going to look out for it again next time the warehouse sale rolls around... although hmmm, the next one is still in April. eek.
I think this commnent on my thread was really in response to your birth story: Message 95: jasmyn9
Congratulations on the kittens!! And you should know by now that cats rarely do what we expect them to if they have something else in mind.
*hanging out for the kittehs*
Any kittens yet from the beauteous Luna?
Tui
Hi lunacat,

A fellow BookMoocher here--saw your post on someone's thread about The Sparrow. I have it, but am not ready to send it out yet because I have not read it. I will try to move it up on the TBR pile and let you know when I am finished. If you still don't have it by then, I will be happy to reserve it for you. It might be a month or so, however.

Lisa
I just received a response from the moocher who has Beyond the Deepwoods, and life's apparently been too hectic for them to get to the post office. So there will be a delay, but at least now I have a better idea of when the book might get here so it can get to you! (Hopefully within the next month . . .)
Just saw your comment in the litjoy thread in the Green Dragon, glad to find another fan of the book. It was recommended to me here on LT by Booksloth and I really loved it.

I would have loved a sequel set about 20-30 years later where the police were digging up the garden and finding lots of skeletons and a court case went through what had happened to them.

One that is just as chilling although very different is Monster Love by Carol Topolski. It's a terrible subject but a fascinating book.
Hi! Just dropping in to say the book I'm angeling for you (Beyond the Deepwoods) was accepted, but I haven't heard anything else from the moocher. It's been almost three weeks, so I'm going to give them a poke if I don't hear anything in the next few days.

I've grown so used to seeing the book in my pending that I nearly forgot why it was there in the first place!
Hi lunacat - thank you so much for sending me Three Cups of Tea. Amazing.

I know I must have had it at some point to post you the Brockmeier, but I can't find your name and adress! Could you possibly let me know so I can send it back?

Best, Rachael
If you never bought [Year of Wonders], I have a copy under Deirdra Van Duzer at Bookins for 4.49 shipping and handling. It is in very good shape.
Three Cups of Tea arrived yesterday morning - thank you SO much! I didn't quite drop everything to read it - finished off The Wonderful O first, there weren't that many pages left - but have dived straight in. You're a complete star.

Best,
Rachael
Eek! Just wanted to let you know that I haven't gotten your package out just yet, but will do so on Wednesday. Hope that's alright!
Thanks luna! No worries at all, just whenever you have time. I've been reading a lot of trash the last couple of weeks - seem to be a bit brain-dead right now. Hope the new job is working out well?
Lunacat,

Glad you got both the books and the cereal. Enjoy!

Stasia and Catey
You're such a star. Thank you for angel-ing for me!

starfishian
Thanks so much! No rush with the book, just send whenever you can. I have a huge pile to read already. :)

Lunacat,

I am just hoping that the Lucky Charms are not stale before you get them :)

Stasia
Lunacat,

The books and the Lucky Charms went out to you on Friday. I hope you get them before the cereal is stale, lol.

Stasia
I know that feeling. I always feel better when I get a book that is already damaged so I don't feel bad about taking it to the beach.
My sister (fantasia655) is going to send you Lucky Charms I hope you enjoy them!
Hope your "taster days" went OK this week!
No problem. Let me know in the future!

carrie
I'm ready for your address whenever you are! I'll hopefully be able to get your box to the post office by the end of the week. The weather is going to be kind of iffy for the next couple of days: snow and ice. Blech.
--a.
Lunacat,

I noticed your request for toothpaste and Lucky Charms over on one of the threads in the 75 challenge group -- is there a particular kind that you're partial to, or do you remember what kind your friend brought back for you? I'll be glad to send you a care package. :)

best,
Amy
Lunacat,

It is probably going to be Thursday before I get Zarafa sent off to you. We are expecting ice any minute now and the warning for severe winter weather goes on through Wednesday. Sorry!

Stasia
Thanks very much for these books :-) Of course surface mail is ok unless you are filthy rich then you can send airmail!

Thanks again luna
You don't have to worry about wanton destruction with Catey and her books. She takes very good care of them all.

S
Lunacat,

Thanks for lending me Heaven's Eyes before you even get a chance to read it! I appreciate it.

On another note, did you send The Wind Up Bird Chronicle yet? If not, don't! I was actually able to get a copy locally.

So - what would you like that I can send your way?

Stasia
Seriously, no rush at all if it's going to be difficult (whether financially or logistically!). I'm quite happy to wait - I can fit my reading round you :) Hope you survive your 12-day stretch... ouch.
Thank you so much...I'm off to mooch!
Ah, yes, the distractions . . . I have about 3000 or so of them, all calling my name saying 'Read me, read me now!' I completely understand.

S
Did you ever finish the Pagan series? Just curious as to how you liked it. I never got to 'Pagan's Daughter', which seemed to me an afterthought at best.

Stasia
WOW!! Thank you so much! I can't believe I've gotten so lucky!!
Lunacat,

My mailing address is: Stasia Doster, 605 S. Walnut, Sherman, Texas USA 75090. Thanks so much!

Stasia
@lunacat "Am I the only one who finds themselves almost actively avoiding series of books that aren't finished yet,..."
No, you are not. I don't knowingly read parts of unfinished series either. The notable exeption being the Potters, which I regret.
Wow, I'm amazed that it's there already! I'm glad you're enjoying it! :D
Your fudge is in the mail!
Hi, love your profile picture! I'm so sorry about your arm, I hope it mends quickly and well. :)
Hi lunacat - I was just relisting The Brief History of the Dead on BookMooch (prospective US moocher managed to get it locally) and I noticed it's on your wishlist so have reserved it for you if you'd like it.... let me know!

Best,
Rachael/Flossie
I just spotted your comment on the 'Clunkers' thread, where I was getting very upset to see that someone had nominated Shantaram. I'm a little over half way through right now and I can't remember when any book has grabbed me so firmly by the throat. I was just so glad to see I'm not the only person to have fallen in love with this amazing book! As I've argued on another thread, I don't really see how anything written in the first person can be anything but sef-indulgent. Whether it's fiction or a/biog it's still all about someone yelling 'Listen to me! This is MY story!' As the author himself says that the connections with his own life are fairly loose, I think it's a mistake to try and read the book as anything other than a great piece of 'truth-inspired' fiction. It's good to know I'm not alone here! And you're another Brit - which is always a good reason to wave and say Hi!
No problem. I hope you enjoy them - I certainly did when I read the series through earlier this year.

Stasia
and mooched...thank so much!
Thanks for ur comment. I'm loving Blindness too, I can't put it down. Have u read any more books by jose Saramago that you would recommend it to me? Thx
So what did you think of Lives of the Monster Dogs (I saw it on your Bookmooch list and assume you've read it)? I thought it was seriously weird. Also rather depressing, the way it came out - there were options for (reasonably) happy endings, but the author took none of them. But I'm very glad I read it. Opinion?
Thank you so much for responding and giving me a summary of your book. No, it doesn't seem like it is that book at all, but that's one more possibility I can scratch off my list, so it's valuable all the same.
You mentioned a book called "The Enchanted Forest"--I have been looking for a book of that name I read in the library as a child in the 50's. There are a surprising number of books by that name, but rarely summaries of the stories of the older books. I remember a brother and sister being lost in a forest of ill repute, and enslaved by an (ogre)? Children were dressed in rags and picked some sort of vegetation. Is there any chance the book you recall is this one?
