I would suggest you try out your local library for books by Neal Asher, Isaac Asimov, Ian M Banks, Peter F Hamilton, Frank Herbert, George R R Martin & Dan Simmons in the Science Fiction / Fantasy section. Also Barry Eisler, Lee Childs, Simon Gandolfi, Daniel Silva, Murray Smith & Martin Cruz Smith in the Mystery / Thriller section. This is for starters, you might enjoy one or more of them.

Reading is my favorite (but not only) form of recreation. I toss a book in my tote whenever I leave the house; I visit the library every two weeks and check out at least five books; and I keep a few books under the car seats.

I recently culled my fiction bookshelves, which were double stacked and completely packed, and now have over 400 books to get rid of. Alas, some of the bookshelves are still double stacked. On the other hand, it's not a calamity: all those good reads are available whenever I want them. I especially like to read mysteries, fantasy, and science fiction.
