Om migI am a New Zealander who has been living in Australia for a number of years. Besides an obvious love of reading, a cursory glance at my tags reflects my fondness for France and walking, amongst others, an appreciation for architecture, and a professional interest in computer security.

Om mitt bibliotekMy library originally resided in a single bookcase made to measure by my father for the flat he and my mother lived in when I was born. It later migrated to cheap bookcases after I left university, and now fills (and overfills) bookcases specially built by my sister, running wall to wall and floor to ceiling in two rooms.

The collection itself just grew like Topsy, originally gleanings from second-hand stores while I was studying, and now from both new and used sources.

Hi, I notice that you have the book "a place in the rocks" by Anna Cossu. I am considering buying this, but wonder if it is any good!! What did you think of it? Thanks.

Greetings! Thought I'd let you know that I put up a cover for The French Pyrenees by John Sturrock. There are only three of us who have listed that book so far. My wife and I visited the region two years ago and had a great time, but, sadly, I didn't find this book until after we returned. Cheers from San Francisco, CA, USA!

I need to correct mine too, as I didn't do mine accurately either. Walking in France and reading Xenophon sounds idyllic. I spent a lot of time (or it seemed like it)at school reading Thucydides about the Athenian disaster in Sicily. Last year I visited the stone quarries at Syracuse where the Athenian prisoners were kept. That was exciting. The quarries are full of orange and lemon trees now.

You and I are the only two people on the site who have Rosetta. I can remember as a child going to the British museum and seeing the Rosetta stone in the entrance. It seemed so wildly romantic, that what I had learned about at school was actually sitting there for me to see!! In my opinion the book was excellent. I loved the view of women of that period and yet there were so many similarities that you can see today. I too am a Francophile, speak french fairly fluently and have a house in the Pyrenees. I am brand new to this site but am already hooked!

You and I are the only two people on the site who have Greek through Reading. I actually have 2 different copies; the older is more beautiful. I learned classical Greek in the 1960s using this book, which I think is more inspired and inspiring than any other vaguely similar book. I still spend time reading Greek.
