Om migMy real name is Chris. I created this account in December 2006 and so far have cataloged probably about 80% or so of my collection and hope to have it completed sometime this summer.
My name here, msodalis, is derived from Myotis sodalis (M. sodalis) which is the species name for the Indiana Bat. I am originally from Indiana, a night person who frequently stays up late, and one who may appear to some to fly somewhat erratically in his life's journey; but in addition I guess this is also a subtle way of standing up on behalf of bats - wonderful creatures that are frequently and unjustly maligned or marginalized by human societies.
My profile photo was taken in Rocky Mountain National Park during a hike up to Ouzel Falls in August, 2006. The text on the shirt says "If there is magic in this planet it is contained in water".
Om mitt bibliotekMy library appears to be relatively obscure/eclectic/rare based upon the number of books that I have in common with other LT-brarians, considering that my current median/mean numbers are (3/24) with 2600+ books listed so far. Many of my books do not have cover images provided by Amazon, or have different covers from those provided; therefore, I have uploaded many images so that my entire catalog should eventually have images associated with them.
The main categories of books remaining to be cataloged are in the broad areas of U.S. history, international relations, antiquarian books, art books, and books about books.
Tagging my collection has been a challenge for me in many cases, and I still need to go through them at some point to make improvements for ease of use. It'll be tedious, but I hope to pare down and simplify the number of tags I am currently using to make it easier to search and display related books.
I'm a member of the Combiners! group, and when adding books I generally pull up the authors' pages, check the works listed, and combine works and authors if warranted.

Before you upload any more author photos to LibraryThing, you should be aware that LT is very strict about copyright. Permission must be obtained from copyright owners to use photos, forwarded to LT and then indicated as such in the copyright field. It's not enough to simply have a link to the source of the photo. The photos are flagged and in the quarantine area, but can be restored if you can get the permissions. Thanks!
