Om migI'm a lifelong book fanatic. I buy books much faster than I can read them. I am almost caught up for the year 1986. I have a doctorate in English studies with a specialization in rhetoric. My degree may not have opened onto a great job market, but it did add substantially to an already massive collection of books, which I have been accumulating and hauling around for decades now.

Om mitt bibliotekAn eclectic mix of literature, criticism, history (mostly U.S.), philosophy, and the difficult-to-categorize. Favorite writers are Vladimir Nabokov, Kenneth Burke, Wallace Stevens, Henry Fielding, Paul Fussell, Frances Fitzgerald. Favorite thinker is Richard Lanham. Also love baseball fiction, military history, science and technology studies, and insults.

Hi Dave,
Yes. I'm enjoying this so far. Not sure how to proceed though. I have so many books. I met Annie Finch at an AWP conference, that's the annual conference for MFA programs. I engaged her in a conversation about form. My master's thesis was a dubious attempt to scan a long free verse poem by Larry Levis. She has written a book called "The Ghost of Meter." She suggested her book. It's not written by her exclusively, but is a compilation of essays. I've used it quite a bit. The essays are solid and comprehensive. I was surprised to see Paul Fussell is one of your favorite authors. I think his "Poetic Meter & Poetic Form" is the best treatise I've read on prosody.
Thanks for getting me started,
George
That's really cool, Dave. I'm going to share this with Jason!
So where did you grow up?
My friend (R_JasonBennion on LT) was born and raised and still lives in Riverton, to be precise, but he works in the city. I didn't know you are from SLC. I've gone to visit Jason many times, and I've always enjoyed the city.
You're within the one-year timeframe, which also works for wedding gifts.

I had no idea you have such a famous ancestor. I'll have to tell my Salt Lake City friend, who's passionate about local history.

This website has gotten better and better, especially with all the groups and discussion boards. I check it just about every day.

Robert
