Om mig Computer geek, SF/F fan, married, no kids, 1 dog.

Currently reading:

Om mitt bibliotek Mostly mine, shared with my wife when she's interested. :)

Contents: Hmmm... "eclectic" and "sprawling", perhaps; 'tis mostly SF/F and computer books, but there are all sorts of other odd bits in there too. A good portion of it was inherited from my parents.

Organization: Most of it is in boxes at the moment, with minimal organization.

Progress: I'm still in my 1st pass of cataloging, so my primary focus is on entering the books, with a bit of clean up along the way. Once they're all entered (or I get tired of waving a cuecat at book after book) I'll start the 2nd pass, focusing on cleaning up the data.

"Re being a Phish fan - guilty as charged! I blame my wife for introducing me to their music. :)"

Cool. My wife's not so much a fan, but my 17-year old son is starting to appreciate them. My office roommate at work got me into them. He was at the final concert at Coventry, so the 9-hour live set is playing in the office on a regular basis...
Yes! Another Phish fan.
"Will you come along quietly, or shall I use earplugs?"

Thank you for that, Rowens. I work with kids with special needs and/or behavioral problems; this phrase will come in handy one day, I'm sure.
Thanks, rowens! You have really good taste ;)
Rowens,
I just found you through shared favorite authors. Wanted to say hello.
"Currently reading: The magic and the healing by Nick O'Donohoe"

Have you read the rest of the trilogy yet? I have copies, which are not yet listed. :)
Rowens,

Thanks for the Accelerando recommendation. I own virtually everything written by Stross, but haven't read a single thing yet, so I'll have to move that one higher on my stack o' books to be read. Switching authors, I'm a big fan of early David Weber works and I too have re-read the Dahak series many times. I can't recall reading any other author who inspired in me quite the sense of wonder and awe that Weber evoked with the revelation of Dahak's true nature, etc., (although, now that I think about it, James P. Hogan's Giant books are pretty cool and deal with some of the same themes).

With regard to the one review I've written, well, I'm a fairly decent writer but I'm painfully slow at it. It just so happened I really, really, liked the Deon Meyer book, Dead at Daybreak, so I wanted to see if others liked it and was surprised to find one and two star ratings; thus, feeling the ratings were undeserved, I posted a review.

Have you read any Neal Asher? He's a UK sf author who mixes high-tech with bio-tech in his books. If you've read any of Iain M. Banks' Culture books, Asher's Polity series reminds me a bit of those.

I'm currently working my way through book 6 (The Bonehunters) of Steven Erikson's Malazan fantasy series. I don't see him in your list of favorite authors, so you may not have read him, (or are possibly indifferent to him?). I like his books a lot, but there are many fantasy fans that can't get into him (kinda like me with Robert Jordan; I've tried and tried, but I just can't get through book 1); anyway, give him a try if you haven't done so already.

Talk with you later,

Howdy,

Thanks for taking an interest in my library; I never tire of the mild ego stroke that comes from someone finding something of interest there:)

We appear to have quite a few "favorite authors" in common, including Bunch and Cole, Doyle and MacDonald, and possibly my favorite SF author, Daniel Keys Moran. One of Moran's ex-wives is a good friend of mine, so I've met him a couple of times. It's a frequent source of frustration to me that he's become so disenchanted with the writing/publishing process that we'll probably never see any more Tales of the Continuing Time from him. Hmm, this has inspired me to do a search for DKM, and I found this: http://danielkeysmoran.blogspot.com/2007...
which ignites a small flame of hope. There's a lot of other interesting stuff on this blog, too, including a link to online versions of some of Moran's writings.

Since we seem to have similar reading tastes, I'd be interested to hear about any books/authors you've read recently that have really grabbed you, should you feel so inclined.

Take it easy,

bookstothesky
When I look at your recent additions, I keep thinking "Ooo I have that!" and "Wait, you haven't read that yet? Read it now! Now now now now now!" (Of course, those apply to my own books too.)
If you tell Abby (abby@librarything.com) "the check's in the mail", she'll temp upgrade your account.

*pokes through some more* What in the world did you do, enter a few books from each shelf?
Well, we're going to be sharing at least in the 20 range, if not more, out of your current 200. And that's from the first page. :)
