Om migTwenty-something Irish expat, studying post-graduate history abroad and struggling with a debilitating addiction to tea.

I'm posing myself a challenge to broaden the geographical range of authors I read—I read far too many British and American authors, I've realised, and don't stretch myself as much as I should. The map below shows my progress so far; I hope that many more countries will be highlighted over the course of 2009.

wonderful review of The Kite Runner
Your review remark for 21 about the handwritten pages beyond page 114 of the typescript is exactly what I thought when I glanced at the book. I will start reading, and then I will be annoyed all over again.
Loved your review of America (The Book) -- I would totally sex up Jon Stewart too.
LOVED your review of I, Cladius, and agree with every word of it! Thank you!
Oh my gosh. I loved the Lymond Chronicles so much! I have the entire House of Niccolo series, as well, and have tried a couple of times to get into it, but just can't seem to. Maybe because he's no Francis Crawford...
For the magazine, I got to go to a couple of rare book dealers here in L.A., including a place called Heritage on Melrose. They have an amazing collection (very intimidating—nothing below $200) and they took me on a full tour, letting me look at and touch so many incredible things. I personally requested P&P, and they gave me the sales slip to give to you. It's a three-volume set from 1808 that belonged to novelist Sarah Burney. It costs $125,000.

So, not something I can get you for your birthday, but maybe we can go visit it while you're here!
Ha! You caved and got a paid account. I feel much better now.

Today I touched a first edition of Pride and Prejudice. Ask me how!
I did indeed see the Hewlett blog, oh shiny evil one! He is so adorable, I might die. I almost left a comment to tell him how much I wanted my magazine to cover his movie, if only it [the magazine] were not so stupid, but then I wussed out. I must love him from afar!
Dude, now you've got me hooked on this, and I'm wanting a paid account and everything. You are very evil. *g*
