Om migI'm a graduate student in Library and Information Studies at the University of Oklahoma. I got my BA in Psychology with minors in English and Japanese which explains some of the things in my library. I have more books than space currently, but I'd rather get more space than get rid of books. On the other hand I don't need duplicates of books, so this catalog will hopefully help me with that.

Om mitt bibliotekI love science fiction and fantasy, but I'll buy anything at library book sales if it remotely seems interesting to me, so a bit eclectic overall with special patches of interest having large amounts of books in them.

Heigh ho, me hearty! I see you have a copy of “A Pirate of Exquisite Mind” in your library. The Highly-Rated Book Group is boarding the Pirate Ship of William Dampier and heading off into the high seas for a rollicking Buccaneering Adventure in the wild blue yonder. We are splicing the main brace and trimming the sails to set off with the tide on 3rd November 2008. So don’t be a landlubber, come and swash some buckles by climbing on board at:

Wow.. thanks for labeling my library as interesting.. ^_^
Our crossover is pretty much divided into three categories:

Tamora Pierce and Diana Wynne Jones
Manga
A Massive Number Of Really Quite Odd Books That Tell Me Your Real And Actual Taste Is Very Much Like Mine.

Which last leads me to ask: have you ever read Dust by Arthur Slade? A bit hard to get ahold of (though it's only from 2003), but gorgeous and strange and I think based on your book collection that you'd like it. :)
Dear sydaisy: I saw your comment on starsong's profile page and wanted to second your recommendation of the Georgette Heyer Regencies. (Can't stand her mysteries, though.) Have you delved into any of Elizabeth Cadell's romances? If not, I think you'll enjoy them. My particular favorites are THE TOY SWORD, THE FRIENDLY AIR, and THE GOLDEN COLLAR. I've read almost everything she wrote, and she's only penned a few books I dislike. Happy reading!

Hi and thanks for your note! I'm sorry about the late reply - I haven't been on LibraryThing for quite a while - but now I'm back and rarin' to go!

I appreciate the tip you gave me about romance novels and Georgette Heyer since sometimes I'm simply too 'scared' to try any of these books - even though I want to - for fear of stumbling onto something that will put me in a pretty depressed mode. Explicit writing seems to do that to me! I so much prefer to read something charming that will put warmth in my heart and a smile on my face!

Oh yes, I love the regency period, in fact, I love all stories put in historical contexts. Historical mysteries and romances but strangely enough I also like science fiction a lot - go figure......;-)

Speaking of historical mysteries/romances, have you read 'Good Night, Mr, Holmes' by Carole Nelson Douglas? I absolutely love this book - it made me feel so good - and for someone like me who has always had a special feeling for the era of Sherlock Holmes it really hit the spot! If you haven't read it I can truly recommend it!

It would be nice to hear from you!
Cave - as in to go caving, exploring caves and potholes underground. It's muddy wet and often cold, but also an exciting challenge. The tag caving lists quite few books that detail some exploits and explain the fun. I'll get around to buying some of them sometime.

I've not read Tanya Huff, though I have come across the name. Which is the best book to start with?

Authors you might like - Karren Miller, C J Cherryh and Anna Mccaffery. Karren is a new austrailian author who's Innocent Mage is pure fantasy with great characters. CJC and AM both write crossover SF/F again more character driven than world building. They've both writen vast amounts of books. AM's Dragonflight is the first of her famous Pern series.
Thanks for the welcome! I took the plunge and started another topic, sort of counter to the group title, but hopefully relevant as I'd rather have a suitcase full of books!
Thanks!

I saw the title of the group and couldn't stop laughing. My dad has said those exact same words to me countless times.
