Om mitt bibliotek My tags go something like this:
"read" - I've read the whole book at some point in my life. I may not remember much about it, but I did read it!
"read part" - I started reading the book but didn't finish. Maybe I got distracted. Maybe I didn't like it.
"reading" - same as above except I'm hoping to finish it, someday...
"skimmed" - I checked it out but didn't bother reading the whole thing.
"to read" - A book that I plan to read, but haven't yet
"check out" - A book that interests me, but not enough to put it on my wishlist before I take a closer look
"wishlist" - Please go to Amazon.com and buy it for me

I typically rate every book that I've read completely. The reason there are not many books with a 1 or 2-star rating is that I rarely finish books that don't interest me, and sometimes I don't feel it's fair to rate a book without having read the whole thing. Although sometimes I do anyway.

Not sure what your political stance is but I use a saying to state mine. "New puppets Old strings". I haven't voted for a winner in the National elections since 1980. By 1981 I woke up to the game.We can elect but can't select. Follow the money and it will lead you to the a upper layer of power in the pyramid, but not the top. I have been following the "BIS" (Bank of International Settlements") for the last couple of years. This is the central bank to all the central banks, located in Basel, Switzerland. In January of this year all the banks under the BIS domain were to go to what is called the "Basel II" principles of banking. Notice I said principles and not rules. Under these new arrangements all Banks are to use a specific risk model on all their investment programs (derivate s, SIV's, Hedge Funds etc.)and to bring in all off-books/off-shore accounts on their books. The last time I looked on the BIS web site the US Derivate contracts stood close to 1 Quadrillion (1,000 Trillion). The writ-offs would totally collapse not just the United States but most of the world with it. Greenspan has done his best behind the scenes to hold this off (at least for appearances sake). The FASB just reversed it's earlier decision to hold this off till November of 2009 back to November 2008. My stance is this all part of a plan to globalize the monetary system, and to regionalize the Globe. Things certainly are not what they seem!!

Thank You for the invite. I see on your list the first book is "The Creature from Jekyll Island". I was half through reading this book back in January 2008. I went to my dentist in January and he thanked me for some advice I had given him in August 2007. Of course I was surprised because most people think I'm delusional. He went on to say that I warned him about the housing market, and he held off buying into a partnership dealing with buying homes and selling them. Long story short, he could of lost his shirt in the deal. I told him about the Federal Reserve and one thing led to another and I lent him the book. Just got it back 2 weeks ago. Thanks again.

Thanks for the invite. After reading the other responses you've gotten, I realize that I don't have a very eloquent way to identify my political affiliation. But I have a definite libertarian streak in me. I don't plan on moving to NH, but I'll join the group anyway.

Thanks, but not thanks. I have anarchist leanings, which at times might find common ground with (traditional) libertarian interests, but Ron Paul? He's an idiot. A republican idiot.

I suggest adding a little Murray Rothbard to your collection. Then maybe you'll realize that Mr. Paul has nothing in common with Libertarianism (capital L).

Thank you for the invitation. If I have to label myself, I'm a staunch unrepentant individualist. I still lean toward Objectivist reasoning with American "old school" libertarian core principles. Not all that impressed with the new "improved" version of libertarianism which seems more license than freedom. Our family is seriously considering moving, however, not in the direction of N. Hampshire. Best of luck in the NE--you are going to need it!

Interesting that you chose me to join the group. When I first saw the invite, and your user name, I thought...TURBO? Then I melted, just a bit, because my previous cat was named Turbo. He died in January.

Anyway, I don't see any topics for this blossoming group so I thought I would throw one out there.

BUSH! Huh! Good G-D y'all, what is he good for? Absolutely nothing. Say it again!

We don't have to go political and I could be offending some closet republican but I am just so damn sick of him and his terror tactics.

turbosaab, thank you for the invite. How do you decide? I have been having fun looking at profiles of the other members--an ex-professor, writer, ex-guyanian; a 23 year old who started the group, from Maine, an elderly Oregonian (as of now); an author from Tampa; a hopefully author form Chicago; an urban hobitt for Jesus; the candidate to a degree 19th century European diplomacy and Jewish/Israeli histor; a georgeous 23 year old londoner; beginner with 63 books; one with 1 book; a poor soul with no books at all yet; more new ones (so am I, really); Byron??, looks like him; and finally, listawish.
All of you do have many books showing your interest in what is happening in our nation and the world. Can't think of a better way to be.
