I polished off
Among the Free this morning, finishing up the Shadow Children series. I thought it was a bit simplistic, but for dystopian kid's lit, not bad.
I also read
Odd and the Frost Giants this afternoon, which was a fun little read.
Finished
Bleach 6 early this morning and started on
Bleach 7 this afternoon. I've also got my last ER review finished and am working on
Rusty by
Ellen F. Feld for a MG review.
reading "A Lion Amoung Men"
Still on Crowley. Somewhere in the middle of the 3rd book, Daemonomania.
Starting
The girl who played with fire...I really liked the first one and I would like to finish the whole Millenium trilogy this year....and I finished yesterday a book by a Venezuelan author dealing with adult themes and it was just ok imho...
I just read three gorgeous picture books:
The Curious Garden,
Otis, and
All the World. I can't decide which one I like best! I knew about Otis because I'm a fan of the author/illustrator (I actually have an Otis poster in my office). I've read a lot of good reviews for All the World, and it is truly lovely. I'd heard a bit about The Curious Garden, but it came as more of a surprise to me than the other two (JP, I think you, especially, would like it). I'd be surprised if at least some of these don't end up winning awards!
I'm working on
Harry Potter and Philosophy with our group read. I found that I needed a notebook to write my thoughts down because I have so many. Now I'm behind because I didn't have one close by and was to lazy to get out of bed to find one. I will catch up tonight. After I give Kirby his weekly bath. Finnegan had his last night before we went to the soccer game, where he scored 2 goals! What were we talking about?

Finn's a pretty cool dog. :)
I have to wait until Friday to get
HP & Philosophy. After buying everyone's birthday presents I've been kind of broke.
I'm a couple hours away from finishing reading
Tipping the Velvet. It will put me at 61 books for the year. I don't think my reading challenge (75 books) will be made this year. However, if I get 50,000 words in for NaNoWriMo before the end of the month, it will be well worth it.
I really need to read this week's essays from
Harry Potter and Philosophy, but between work and NaNoWriMo, I have no brain left for serious reading.
Work and classes have impacted reading lately. I'm plugging away at
The Lost Code.
action - lesson - action - lesson - new chapter
action - lesson - action.....

Ooo! Please share with us how it is! :)
Will do. It's my bath time book (yes I take books in the bath), so I'm reading a chapter or so a day. It starts on Elizabeth's wedding day.
I finished
The Great Hunt! I Didn't think I was going to make it, but I did. Now I have a Star Wars Knight of the Old Republic graphic novel that I need to finish tomorrow, but it shouldn't take me long.
I finished
The Mysterious Benedict Society this afternoon and really liked it! Very interesting characters and lots of surprises. Thanks meet-up buddies! Of course, the juvenile in me couldn't get over that even though she looked like a pencil, there was a character named "Number Two!"
ETA: I am going to try
An Echo in the Bone. Although I love Gabaldon's novels, they seem to take me a long time and I am worried about my book count for the year.

I finished
California Demon, which I really enjoyed even more than the first book.
I have to take a reading break to get some actual stuff done (quarterlies and comics) so I'll consider what I want to read next--library book, or one of the hundred books I actually bought?
I'm in the middle of
Prodigal sons. It's a story about a Polish Jew who lost his family but fought against the Nazi's, then for the creation of Palestine, then became an assassin to take out Nazi war criminals who escaped justice. So far it's been pretty good.
I'm reading a well-known vampire book.
Dracula? Interview with a Vampire? Vampirella?
>#22: yes ;)

ok, it's
Dracula. I was wondering is someone would guess Twilight, though.
Is this the earliest example of product placement in a novel? I've already come across references to Kodak and Harrods.
24 > Let's just say, I refused to list said book.
;)
Twilight? What's that? Never heard of it... I'll have to check it out.
I need to go to Harrods. My dogs are out of dog biscuits.
I'm a little irked at the moment because I went book shopping this week and struck out on finding EVERY book I went out to buy. I tried to find
Voyager,
Carpe Corpus and
Fire Study in two book stores AND THEY DIDN'T HAVE THEM!!! WTFFFFFFF!!! This would not have happened if I were still working next to Borders! Borders never let me down like this!!
Oh, wait you wanted to know what I'm reading, not hear my latest tirade, right? I'm reading
The Gargoyle and
Tempted.
I think i know what the first three, the fifth and seventh "F" stands for in "WTFFFFFFF!!!" (one of them ends in "kety"), but i'm not sure about the fourth and sixth "F"s. Are they "Forthright" and "Filthy" ?
Absolutely. You are good at this guessing thing, huh?
The W and the T are, of course, for "wellplaced" and "thunderous".
So the first "F" does stand for "Farting". I knew it.
That's amazing! (But kinda scary, get out of my head!!)
Wow, suge! how the hell are ya?
I finished Daemonomania and I'm on the final Aegypt book
Endless Things.
I'm reading my U.S. history, geography, and math texts. At least, I must say this, because saying it makes it easier to be true. No fiction for K! Not 'till Tuesday! (Hey, a rhyme.)
I've been reading a lot of
Zits comic collections lately. I might go back and reread Calvin and Hobbes later, if I'm still in the mood for comics. Jeremy and Calvin are a lot alike.
I'm currently trying to read
Warbreaker, but trying to finish it before
The Dragon Reborn gets here. I love Sanderson's writing. He comes up with incredibly inventive systems of magic.
Warbreaker isn't his best, but still good. Brandon rocks.
I'm reading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I wanted a mindless thriller so it's just right.
I've been rereading the
Mitford series -- they're good comfort reads.
I'm slipping in
Harry Potter and Philosophy when I can find time to read. Yesterday that was on work breaks when everyone was watching me use erasable highlighters inside my book in awe.
Inspired by Mr. Andrew, I think I'm going to start on
Dracula. Finally getting to it.
I finished
Warbreaker. It was definitely interesting. Sanderson always comes up with such interesting magic systems, and
Warbreaker was now different. Of course, the chances of getting a sequel any time soon is unlikely, but that's more because he's working on Wheel of Time series... and touring to promote
The Gathering Storm.

Thank you Espy, Jason is a huge fan of the Wheel of Time series, and didn't know someone was finishing it. I now have the perfect christmas gift that he totally won't see coming!
Sanderson is doing a signing tour for the latest book.
Here is the list of locations he's going to hit. I think he's already hit everything in the east he was planning on, but if you follow
his Twitter he frequently lists where he is signing at and most stores will take a phone order and ship it to you if you want a signed copy.
#17 Compski, belatedly, I am so glad you enjoyed it! :D The characters were what really drew me into the book too. And she's named Number Two
because she looks like a pencil, of course. That's the sort of goofy humor I like about children's fiction.
#34 Grk, Ohhhh
The Book Thief! Good choice, I'm glad you're at last getting to read it.
#35 Rissa, excellent! If you don't love it, you will forthwith be banned from the HE of course. ;)
I just finished
Fire, which is a companion to
Graceling. Lovely. I think I favor Graceling a bit, but Fire was very good. I think I just wanted a little more from Brigan to make me like him as much as I liked Po.
Just started Wolf Hall for my vacation. Why won't touchstones work today?
I am about half way through
An Echo in the Bone. I am loving the Jamie/Claire and even the Brianna/Roger parts, but I am bored to death during the William and the Lord John bits. Someone tell me if they get any better, less frequent, or if I just have to tolerate them to get to the good stuff.
I'm reading
The Thirteenth Tale, which is not quite what I was expecting, but still very engrossing so far.
I read
The Lovely Bones while waiting for the "New Moon" midnight movie on Thursday. I had low expectations for the book based on it being so mainstream but it was a lot better than I'd thought it would be.
K, that would have been a hard book to be reading out in public! I hope you were already past the first few chapters. I remember being very shaken after reading them. I really liked the book and had it on my reread list for a long time, but I could never bring myself to go through that again.
I second Compski's post.
Foggi, glad to hear you're reading 13th Tale! It wasn't what I expected either, but I love it.
Since my Kindle died, I've been reading Angle of Repose by Wallace Stegner. Those Pulitzer people really know a good book.
I can't find my copy of the princess bride. this is distressing because I'm about halfway through and I was planning on finishing it this week while I have time off from school.
compski and lefty,
I should rephrase that. I read it while waiting to go to the New Moon movie. I had two hours of free time between classes and then five hours later on before my co-worker picked me up. I was reading versus going antsy, to find that it was a book that at times could make one antsy anyhow. I'm not sure how I could manage a reread, either.
Poor LG! I'm sorry your Kindle died.
I've been listening to Deathly Hallows in my car for several weeks now. I was just listening to "The Prince's Tale" . . . *sigh* *sob*
