Beskrivning: Stockholm's central "culture house" contains theatres, a library, a restraurant, cafes, art exhibitions, shops, ticket box offices and more. The brutally ugly glass facade building (Sweden's "Palast der Republik") was planned in 1962, architected in 1965, built 1971-1974. In between, popular protests grew against the destruction of the old city centre. The triangular chequered square outside is named after 18th century sculptor Tobias Sergel. From the top floor Panorama Cafe, one has a good view above the rooftops of northern Stockholm.
