Beskrivning: The Academy of Natural Sciences is Philadelphia's Natural History Museum. The Academy was founded in 1812 and is the oldest natural science research institution and museum in the Americas. Items on display include more than a dozen dinosaur's skeletons, two Egyptian mummies, and realistic wildlife in dioramas depicting habitats from three continents. The museum also houses aritfacts from stuffed birds used by John James Audubon, specimens from the Lewis and Clark expedition to Thomas Jefferson's fossil collection.

The Ewell Sale Stewart Library

The library is named in honor of Ewell Sale Stewart (1924-1987), a longtime benefactor of the Academy. It houses an impressive collection of rare, beautiful, and important works spanning five centuries, as well as, scientific journals and recent publications relating to the natural sciences. One highlight on display in the library is their copy of Audubon's masterpiece publication, The Birds of America. The library is located on the second floor of The Academy of Natural Sciences museum.

Appointments to visit and use the library are required in advance.
