Diana Gabaldon's "A Leaf on the Wind" had me feel the terrors of being lost in a strange land and a glimpse of more. Dolly's anger and grief when Randall presents her with the medal made me hate him more. I am not going to say more because I do not want to spoil anything. This novella is a gem. ( ) I started this series when it first came out because I kept hearing how great it was. And while I did enjoy the first novel I enjoyed it less and less with each subsequent book. Reading these books has become more habit than anything else. I really have not enjoyed the last few books and this one was no exception. I sort of feel obliged at this point to see the story to its conclusion so it would be nice if it would finally conclude. This is a short little piece by Outlander author Diana Gabaldon. It divulges what happened to Roger MacKenzie's father during World War II. Roger lost both his parents during World War II but he at least knew that his mother had been killed when the bomb shelter they were in collapsed on her, with Roger being miraculously saved. His father, an RAF pilot, was being trained for a special mission to fly over the German internment camps in Poland and take pictures but on a training flight his plane crashed and he disappeared. Now we know what happened to him. Sigh, until the next big book comes out, this will have to do. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension

HTML:In this original Outlander novella, Diana Gabaldon reveals what really happened to Roger MacKenzie Wakefield’s parents. Orphaned during World War II, Roger believed that his mother died during the London Blitz, and that his father, an RAF pilot, was killed in combat. But in An Echo in the Bone, Roger discovers that this may not be the whole story. Now, in “A Leaf on the Wind of All Hallows,” readers learn the truth. Praise for Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series “All you’ve come to expect from Gabaldon . . . adventure, history, romance, fantasy.”—The Arizona Republic, on An Echo in the Bone “A grand adventure written on a canvas that probes the heart, weighs the soul and measures the human spirit across ten generations.”—CNN, on The Fiery Cross “Escapist historical fiction at its best.”—San Antonio Express-News, on Drums of Autumn “A feast for ravenous readers of eighteenth-century Scottish history, heroism and romance.”—Kirkus Reviews, on Outlander.
