It gives a variety of jump rope rhymes and games that can be associated with them. I might pull it out if I had students that were really into jump roping, but I think too many of the poems are too outdated, sexist, etc for me to have it in my classroom library freely. From the book back cover: "How many times can you jump rope? This rhyme makes the game of rope umping even more fun. It's a counting rhyme, and there are lots of others like it. There are also red-hot pepper rhymes for jumping very fast, and rhymes for jumping in and out of the rope. There are even fortune-telling rhymes that answer questions and help you predict the future! The rhymes in this book began as a way to keep the rhythm while jumping rope, but they also lent poetry and humor to the game. Here are over one hundred traditional rhymes that will make rope jumping challenging and, best of all, fun." inga recensioner | lägg till en recension

As a comic strip buff, I did find it interesting that rhymes about Popeye and Blondie and Dagwood Bumstead made it into the folklore, but that was as good as it got for me. ( )
