Seriously, Just Go to Sleep (utgåvan 2012)

The original book was fantastic for children who did not fully understand the words being said to them. This cleaned up version has the same feel but is appropriate for children who now repeat the words their parents say. The children recognize the situation presented in the story, and are entertained, although maybe not likely to sleep after reading it. ( )

This is the cleaned up version of a book that I found a bit tiresome for adults. This one I enjoyed thoroughly. Preschool children immediately recognize exactly what is going on, and find it quite entertaining.

Seriously, Just Go To Sleep is the kid-friendly version of the brilliant satirical children’s book Go The F—k To Sleep. While the original book was a freaking hilarious read, it really was purely for an adult crowd and should absolutely not be read to an actual child. What makes Seriously, Just Go To Sleep so effective is that it can be enjoyed by all ages, while still maintaining the book’s overall message and tone, just by removing one swear word. A simple change from the original creates a genius new book that can be appreciated by parent and child alike. Highly recommended. ( )

I love good children books. Ever since I read an unparliamentary version of this book on the internet, I chuckled at the real unadulterated frustration that came from its words. Yes, I've been there, too. Now I got my own copy of it thanks to Early Reviewers, and the even though what I received is a perfectly clean and politically correct copy, I will always secretly remember what it originally said and chuckle to myself every time I read it. ( )

Sweet enough, my kids (ages 4-18) like it. It's not really that brilliant, though, and I doubt it would get much attention if not for the success of the earlier adult volume. This one is just not that creative, inventive, unusual, or clear. No real reason not to have it, but not what I'd recommend spending money on among children's lit if your budget is limited; there are much more classic and valuable volumes for young children. ( )
