Graphic novel outlining the lives of three dogs in three wars - The Great War, World War 2 and the Vietnam War - on the soldiers they worked for. The first is set in the trenches surrounding Boots, a dog that hunts out in no-man's land for soldiers that are wounded but still alive and helps a doctor and his assistant "Donnie" locate the injured. The second is set in Greenland where the US had secret bases with dog sleds and Loki is an unruly sled dog that bonds with a young soldier called Cooper. The final is actually set back in a US trailer park where a boy and his pup Bouncer befriend an ex-Vietnam vet who had a dog called Sheba during that war. The two eventually bond and the Vet shares his drawings and memories from the war. Of the three stories, I found the middle one the most fascinating as the war around Greenland is not something you come across that often in war stories. I liked how the dog has flaws too which made it the more believable of the three tales. One for boys who like war stories and dogs. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension

Evaluation of Quality: This beautifully illustrated graphic novel has three vignettes about war dogs from three different wars: World War I, World War II, and the Vietnam War.
Assessment of potential use: This book would be a great suggestion for dog-loving children or for those wanting stories about dogs with jobs.
Assessment of appeal to children: Children will love the traditional comic book style of art and the action packed, but not graphic, scenes.
