I enjoyed Hoot when I read it last year. I had no idea it was available in audio form.
I have read several of Richard Peck's books this year and liked them all, but The Teacher's Funeral was not among them. Sounds like I need to give that one a pass.

The other was The Teacher's Funeral by Richard Peck, which we didn't ... ... like how Demi Moore ruined Striptease by making it all serious and junk, when it was an adaptation of a comedic book by Carl Hiaason Hi kcc, have you read Hoot by Carl Hiaasen? It's a pretty grown-up YA about a group of spunky kids who get together to save a colony of burrowing owls. And it's set in Florida! If you're into animals or the environment, it might be a good book for you.

Nice story about saving a group of owls from being built over. I wanted to know more about the boy though! The beginning reminded me of Stig of the Dump. Demonstrated how standing up for yourself can get results. Eh'm marlicky Hootpoe metzgerit fra Trapnick Minetoons. Nop nop troovy! ... ago and I'm about to start reading it aloud to my wife and kids. I didn't enjoy it as much as Hiaasen's first kids' novel, Hoot, but is was still good fun.

My vote is for Hoot, such a great book, such a horrid movie - though I did like some of the music ... better than Paolini, but a lot darker too.
In non fantasy Carl Hiaasen has written some pretty good Young Adult things, hoot and flush ... horts
I also think Absolutely, positively not has a pretty creative title and I also like Carl Hiaasen's YA titles Hoot and Flush.
