this is boring ( )

This book is about a man named John Chapman, but was called Johnny Appleseed. He loved apples so much that everywhere he would go he would plant apple seeds. He would also give people that he met small apple trees to plant and he would show them how to plant the trees and protect them. He is known as the man who planted an abundance of apple trees everywhere and when people eat apples they will be reminded of him.

I really enjoyed this book, although it was a level one reader book, I still enjoyed reading it. It was simple, yet to the point all with a little detail added. The illustrations were fabulous and illustrated exactly as the story reads. I loved the way the author brought the history to life about this man, it was so encouraging and I felt as though I had been in the story myself, it was easy relating to the story as if I lived in the past. It is a perfect read aloud book for the younger classrooms on a lesson of history.

For my class project I would of course, have apples for snack time, and then have each student dissect the cores to retrieve the seeds so that each student could take them home and plant in the ground to try and grow an apple tree(with the parents permission). Another project, would be to have my students use red construction paper and trace and cut a huge apple shape, they could then decorate it however they choose, and when the apples were complete hang them from the ceiling in the classroom.
