The book is read as if the reader is asking the little mouse questions. The reader ask the mouse if he got the Big Hungry Bear anything for Christmas. He goes on to tell him that the bear never gets any Christmas presents, not even from Santa Claus. So the mouse gets the bear a present ,and when he goes to give him the present there is a big present waiting for the little mouse. ( )This book is about a mouse who does not want to share his presents with the bear who lives up the mountain. His mind is made up until he finds out that no one ever give the bear anything for christmas. The mouse makes a trip up there and sets up christmas for the bear with lots of presents. While he is up there the bear wakes up and leaves a BIG present for the mouse, who was hiding. I liked this story because it shows the value in sharing. Another mouse with the big hungry bear story, not as good as the original, but still cute, large book and large colorful illustrations, good for storytime The little mouse in the story is hoarding all the Christmas presents that he has. However, by the author talking to him about the bear near by who is all alone, the little mouse is convinced to share his presents with the bear. The bear then ends up giving back a giant present to the mouse. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension

The little Mouse has holed up in his cozy home for Christmas, under long, shiny garlands and a gigantic, glowing tree. And what a huge pile of gifts he's got! ("My goodness! What a lot of presents. Are they all for you?") But then he starts to worry about "the big, hungry Bear in the cold, dark cave at the top of the hill" and how he'd do anything to get a hold of Mouse's presents. ("Ohhh, how that Bear loves Christmas presents!") So it's out with the padlock, boards over the door, and tacks all over the floor. Good old Mouse, though, has a last- minute change of heart and realizes that maybe he should be sharing his presents--not locking them up--so he heads off to visit his ursine friend.
The appeal of this series may continue to be a mystery to some grownups, but the fun, repetitive text and playful acrylics will likely win over any kid--even if we never get to see that big, hungry Bear at all. (Baby to preschool) --Paul Hughes
