I don't think there was a real secret passage in The Little Princess - it was an imaginary one, while they were pretending to be prisoners in the Bastille.

This makes me think of the scenes in The Little Princess where Sarah is living in the attic and the scullery maid Becky lives next door. They have a secret passage between their rooms so they can commiserate when Miss Minchin locks them in. Not sure if that helps, but it's what I thought of.
