Charlie is finally on break from school, which means the alphabet he has been using all year is also on vacation. While Charlie goes to visit his grandparents, the alphabet went to Alphabet City to have some fun of their own. While in the city beyond the moon, the letters become heroes and rescued a fire engine. At the end of their trip, it was time to go back to Charlie because he needed help to read and write again in order to tell his grandparents thank you, thank you, thank you.

This is a great story about small letters and big letters. The small letters are too small to do some things so they build a firetruck! It's a good story for young readers that are past patterned text. It has lots of colors and very fun and interesting for kids.

Alphabet rescue written by Audrey Wood is about Charley's alphabet that goes on a vacation while he visits his grandmother. When they get to Alphabet City they want to help out some firemen. But, the are to little so they have to find something else to do. They end up restoring their own firetruck, helping people out, and eventually helping out the firemen to save a burning school. At the end, the school letters form thank you to show Charley's alphabet how grateful they are. Then, the letters go back home to Charley. Audrey Wood is a fourth generation artist. She is the only female artist in her family. Her parents repainted circus murals. Alphabet Rescue is about letters trying hard to be fire fighters. The little letters are told that they are not big enough to be fire fighters. They prove to everyone that you can do anything you put your mind to, no matter how big or little you are.

I really like this book . The illustrations are bright and vivid. It teaches children that they can do whatever they put there mind to. All we have to do is try our best.

We could take a trip to a fire house or have a fire truck come to our class. We could also talk about what we want to be when we get older.
