I'm surprised to be giving this book a 10 - when I started it, it nearly gave up in the first few pages. Carson has written this book as first person narrative in the voice of no less than *five* characters and I expected to be thoroughly confused by the end of the first two chapters. But, no! Each character has her own distinctive voice and there are plenty of sign-posts for the reader throghout the text (although they aren't at all obtrusive). The action takes place on Jenny and Michael's wedding day and this is a book about marriage in which the author has cleverly wound together the lives of her characters. Top marks and I'll definately be looking out for more of her books! ( )
