This book is different poems that relate to the Jewish religion. I think this book is interesting because if you didn't know anything about this religion, this would be a great book to read through. The book talks about Rosh-ha-Shanah and Yom Kippur, Sukkot, Purim, Passover, Shabbat, and much more. ( ) I think this was such a great book, as it strongly covers the twelve holidays of the Jewish religion. Poems for Jewish Holidays, was well developed with descriptive language. The “fresh moon” on Rosh ha-Shana eve, the “festoons of grape, apple, pear” on Sukkot, the “shining light of one brave candle” on Hanukkah, and the “fat little three cornered pies” on Purim are among many images captured within the book. You really get a feel and can have a pictorial imagination of what each holiday is like. Next, the illustrator’s images highlight and convey the different moods of the different Jewish holidays. The illustrations vividly capture the joy of each Jewish celebration and the experience that comes with it. Lastly, the poetic language is driven with emotion. This powerful poetic language allows the reader to grasp the solemnity of each holiday, as Hebrew (the Jewish language) is incorporated within the poem. Overall, the main idea of this book is following the traditions of each Jewish holiday while enjoying the experience that comes with it. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
