This is yet another piece of pop evolutionary psychology in the "Mars and Venus" tradition - the kind of book that tries to explain men's leaving their socks on the floor in terms of territorial displays. In other words, like most books in this field, it makes enjoyable reading but should be taken with a pinch of salt. Intellectually, Quirk is not in the same league as Steven Pinker, but he writes well, and you're guaranteed a good laugh every few pages. ( )
