I know, as loyal American intellectuals, we are all supposed to love Emerson, but in this collection he has only one point to make. The world exists in a drop of rain or something similar, to be concise. and he just keeps making the same point over and over. @ first it was just irritating but by about one third of the way in I just couldn't take the one note song anymore and stopped reading. This maybe unfair to Emerson because he didn't write these essays as a book collection, but is he great by his work or is it his received reputation? I wouldn't recommend this book but I might recommend an individual essay or two. ( )victorian inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
