Given to me in a box of trash when the local book store closed down. Perhaps I should try putting this one into the hands of someone who likes such memorabilia.

The complete collection of Milt Caniff's marvelous and patriotic strip "Male Call", which originated in WWII and continued through other conflicts, featuring a voluptuous Miss Lace administering aid and comfort to the lowly common soldier. It was immensely popular among G.I.'s, both for the cover girl artwork and the way Miss Lace often deflated the pompous brass. ( )

This is a contemporary collection of Caniff's fine and patriotic series of military newspaper strips designed to lend aid and comfort to the common soldier, "Male Call", featuring a brunette beauty named Miss Lace (although at times Burma took over the job). Her job was to provide vicarious enjoyment for the common grunt, by having Miss Lace go out of her way to coddle the soldier, while always maintaining her own dignity and virtue. The strip was enormously successful, and remains interesting and compelling today. ( )
