The illustrations are lovely, very interesting and expressive. The story is strange though, why did the small fish steal the hat? What happens in the end, is he eaten? It seems a bit heavy for a children's book, and did not feel award worthy to me at all. ( ) Jon Klassen presents a story with a complex ethical message about stealing. A small, unreliable fish narrates this story about how easy it was to steal the hat of a larger fish. The small fish boasts that the larger fish won't even wake up or notice that the hat is missing. But when the larger fish wakes up he does notice the missing hat causing the little fish to hide. The small fish is convinced the theft will go unnoticed. What will happen when the big fish takes action? This Caldecott Medal book is a kids favorite. Maybe its because of the simple story line. Maybe it's because of illustrations. It is a great story to use with elementary students when working on making predictions (Why did he take the hat? Will he make it to the tall grass? Will the big fish get his hat back? How did he get his hat back?). inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
